As has been said, the real world fuel economy of the 2.0 is supposed to be pretty poor, very poor considering it's only 130bhp. If this doesn't bother you though, go for it.
My 2.0 is averaging high 30s driven carefully (that's manually calculated and on A/B roads) and has been faultless. IIRC the performance figures are also slightly misleading, as the 2.0 requires 3rd for 60, the 1.8 doesn't.
Hoping the OP doesnt mind me asking a related question. Im probably after a MK2.5 Focus (08/58 - hopefully a Titanium) and was going to get a 1.8L as it seemed to fit nicely between performance/economy/insurance for me - Im not that into cars so wondering should I also be looking at 2L?
Just need an A to B car that is nice to drive, nice inside but isnt particular expensive to run/insure...
