With all due respect, if you are quite new to this, should you be building your first gaming pc? I know you don't get as much for your money, but maybe get a pre-built one from overclockers?

1. get intel not amd
2. build it yourself, it's cheaper
How much would it cost to change ?
Thanks Murray <3

I am not building this myself..... I know a local shop and a friend :)

I've been asking a gaming forum if the machines you've been giving me would run GTA and stuff, and one of them pointed this out..

Just to tell you, haha, just because you have an intel processor, you don't have to buy nvidia aswell. Intel and AMD Graphics are perfeclty ompatible, same with AMD and nvidia. If I was you, I'd go with a hexacore, i.e. Intel i7 or AMD Phenom II X6 T1100, though.

cpu cooler? too unleash full power of i5-2500k (k means unlocked cpu), keep everything cool and quiet(er)

recommend hyper 212 plus its about twenty quid. or silver arrow about fifty quid.

also dump the os+hdd bundle? for £10 more you can get 1000GB(1TB) HDD if bought seperately. If you decide to upgrade(add another 500gb) in future it'll cost you £30.

Maybe drop down to xigmatek midgard? or elite 430, save a wee bit, but choose a case you like everyone will like the looks of different things.

pc building is pretty simple its just like 1 step up from lego? :D

and tonnes of people here to help if you have any Q's

Building a PC is incredibly easy. One step up from lego is about right - just read a build guide and ask here if you have any questions. All the hard part is getting the right components, and you've just got a bunch of good suggestions on that.

To justify the Intel over AMD advice you've been given - GTA4 is pretty much the ONLY game that MIGHT run better on a 6-core Phenom than an i5 2500K. Intel's chips are significantly faster per core than a similarly-clocked AMD chip, and they clock higher to boot.

Just IMO - I'd take KiiYzOo's build, but slap in a 2x4GB RAM kit instead of the 2x2 - not strictly necessary at the moment, but saves a potential upgrade in the future. Munz's advice on the HDD is pretty spot on as well (edit: it would be equally valid to say Murray's latest spec with a Z68 motherboard).

I have to ask, though - where's Stulid got to?
