All my Apple hardware has been destroyed.

Isn't it just a hard disk so you can just take it out and plug it in to a caddy/ pc?
I could but if it works, there's no need.

I hope you realise that from this point on, we'll all be envying you :)
What, for a base spec 27" iMac, it's nothing spectacular, just the boggo i5 version.

Not going for another Mac Pro?
The iMac is going to tide me over until the new Mac Pros get released. Once they are then my family will get the iMac so everyone will be happy.

It's not as simple as that, I made sure the insurance company knew that some things couldn't be tested - for example my two network switches. I had no way to test them without anything here to use so they went on the list. When I was able to get some equipment here to test I discovered that all the ports on one were blown and three out of five on the second had popped.

I knew my ADSL modem had gone so I replaced that yesterday and since then it appears that my Time Capsule may not be working as it should as it can't keep the Internet up. It all looks OK and the wireless works but although the green light is on and I can connect to it, the Internet keeps dropping out. It's either the new ADSL model or the Time Capsule and I know which one is most likely to be broken. I'm going to replace all my network cables as a matter of course and although not expensive, they weren't part of the claim.

Nothing will be sold, even if stuff appears to work I simply can't guarantee it so the comment I made before about stuff being disposed of is genuine.

Although I'll end up with a bunch of new shiny stuff, I will almost certainly be out of pocket at the end of this.

Good on you for being responsible about that, too many people would sell it and not care if it worked properly so long as they'd got some cash...

I guess you could at least go through the Apple recycling scheme, a friend of mine got about £500 for an old display & mac pro if I remember correctly.

Ta da!

Clearly it's pre-loaded with Lion. That's a result.

Here's a really poor image of the iMac on my desk with my second monitor. It was taken using some dodgy stitch application on the iPhone hence the dreadful low res. You can see where the stitching got a little confused along the left edge of the keyboard.

The rest of the stuff will come once new Mac Pros are released, I'll do what I can to cope until then. I'm using my work router and can manage like this.
