Suspected burglar stabbed to death by homeowner

It's funny when people dig themselves into a hole on forums.

Rather than just admitting they got it wrong or accepting someone elses view, they continue to try defend what they've said with each further response getting more ridiculous :D

I know, it's hilarious. There's so many people doing it too ;)

What amazes me though is his double standards around how to treat former news international employees, how they should be arrested and blacklisted from employment on hearsay only, yet he wishes to simply accept someone saying 'self defence gov' when there is a dead body on the ground.

Somewhat skewed priorities I think...

The problem in this case is that the police made up their minds before the investigation had even started. The problem in the News International/Hacking case is that the police refused to do a proper investigation in case they had to make a judgement about whether it was reasonable to suspect anyone of wrongdoing.

Oh shut up and stop going on with yourself. You've been answered many times, stop whinging and go away, do everyone a favour.

I'm baffled as to why people are talking as though me, Burnsy, Von Smallhausen, et al are wrong.

We advocated letting the CPS make a decision, rather than just taking the guy's word for it that it was reasonable self defence. The CPS have made a decision.

Remind me at which point we're all wrong?

I think if someone tries to break in to your home that you live in then it should all be fair play. People seem to forget the psychological effects these leave on victims not to mention it could have been the home owner stabbed to death. Someone lives in a place for 5 years or more, becomes attached and then suddenly all that is raped from him. How are you suppose to feels safe knowing you can do nothing about it if someone tries to take that from you.

Just as I thought. I had to ignore this thread because of all the people jumping to conclusions that he was being done for murder.

I don't think anyone was categorically saying he was being done for murder. Plenty of people were categorically saying he absolutely should not be done for murder. Some of us were saying that maybe it would be a good idea if the right people took a bit of time to think about whether it could have been murder.

If someone broke into my house, I'd do more than stab them... disgusting this country.

Victim being prosecuted for murder, absolutely fantastic

Jesus, not again. The law defending the perpetrator, not the victim. Disgusting..

Treating it as murder? Should be given a medal for ridding the world of another piece of scum.

Trespassers will be shot should be how it is.

Shame this country is so into giving scum rights.

Just heard on the radio this chap's deemed as having acted in self-defence and did not break the law, absolutely made my day, superb & proper outcome.

It's also the one that I think most of us (who aren't brainwashed by the DM;)) expected.

My only doubt was if things hadn't been as initially reported, the law worked pretty well and as it usually does in these cases (investigation, no prosecution if homeowners version tallies with evidence and it is self defence).
It's rare for these cases to even go reach a court room, and about as rare as hens teeth for a Jury to convict even when the level of force is OTT.

I would check and compare crime figures, if you think that by owning a gun you are safer ... think again.

That's conditioning on the same crime figures though. Cuz I'm not a strong man and I need to heavily rely on weapons like knives/guns during fights for a better chance. :D

In the US if someone robs my house, I let him leave, (and just when he starts to step outside my house) I pull out my gun, shoot him down, take back my cash, report to police, and be done with it. In the UK, prepare for the remaining life in jail.

But you're doing that with the intent of serving them a punishment, not protecting or defending yourself.

You do that in the US, and you end up in jail ...
