Hello all!
I've recently finished the first draft of a short story and I was wondering if anyone here fancies giving it the once-over. It'll be published on the Amazon Kindle once it's ready and I have worked out a decent cover.
Subject-wise, it's a vampire story. Vampires are much-loved in fiction, but also over-done in my opinion and I want to forget the garlic, the coffins, immortality and crucifixes in favour of something a bit more 'realistic' and 'cool'. I have a huge amount of notes concerning my re-creation of their physiognomy, belief system, honour system and and so on, but there's not enough room to explain it all in a short story (or here - unless people are interested). It'd be interesting to read the details of how you guys would create vampires if any of you have had ideas of your own - you know, what powers you'd give them and so on.
Anyway, it is 11,000 words long (roughly an hour's leisurely read), so it's more of a action-packed novella, but there's no obligation to read all of it, of course. So, if anyone's interested post here and I'll e-mail it.
Also, you don't have to know anything about grammar or spelling - I'm more interesting if people think it works as a story and whether it's any good or not.
Thanks!
Matt
