I think the updates have defo improved the game , its not perfect but a lot better in the fact that for example you go to a-spec and have choosen your car but forgot to add a mod or 2 too it and before you had to go back to the main gt mode menu where as now you can buy and install parts just before the race in the settings :) doesnt sound that big a deal but can save you plenty of faffing about , you can add me on psn if you like and if i have a car you need to borrow you are welcome to do that .
 
Forgot about that, must be the best thing they've done tbh, saves a lot of messing about like you say, very handy new feature.

Cheers guys, really generous offers. I imagine I'll need to borrow the Chaparral 2J for the classic car event. I did it first time round with a race modified Challenger but it was a real pain in the arse, especially the Deep Forest race. :p
 
Got the ferrari classic race car or classic xj jag fo that. If it fails there the trusty toyota 7:) No need to borrow ie gift cars. If you go to friends profile they have a list of cars you use.

Hey you can use my cars too if you need to, just message or post what events you're planning to race so I can stock the appropriate cars (if I have them!). I don't have the 2J unfortunately meh.

Slowly edging onwards with the game, 94% completed now, B-Spec bob is running the FGT championship as I speak. I'm now in the territory of buying pretty much everything from the UCD :o
 
I still want Test Course back! And I wish they still had the Max Speed test as well, was quite fun in a way, fiddling with the gear ratios to see what top speed your cars could get. I think Circuit De La Sarthe (no chicanes) is just about long enough to max most cars though I guess

Hmm, just clearing up the remaining seasonals I haven't done yet. Expert Challenge: Lotus Elise 111R event- AGGGGHHHHHHH. What is it with the Elise in this game?! I can only manage 3rd, that's with Active Steering on.

And something funny going on just now, just won a race, no background music, no pause menu available during the race and now my car is just bumbling along at 49mph as per usual at the end of any race, but I can't exit the race. No final standings board came up, no options, nothing... grrr. At least it wasn't a 24hr race....

Yeah this has been happening with me, I've posted about it a few pages back.

You might wanna beware though, today I've just tried to use the PS3 and now it won't read discs. I had thought it was a disc error previously but also thought it was a bad instal (even after reinstal I had this happen since).

I'm off to ASDA to pick up a dvd cleaning kit now since I don't have the proper tools to open up the PS3. Apparantly I need a torx screwdriver which I no longer have grr
 
Anyone know how many updates have been released for this? :p

I just re-bought it and it's in the middle of a 608MB update but it says 1/6 so I'm guessing there are another 5 updates after this. Any big ones?
 
1/6 updates. It actually starts at 1.05 and goes up to 1.10. And 1.10 has some nifty bits, so you may aswell grab it. :p

1.05 is one of the bigger updates, im pretty sure they get a lot smaller as you go.

Ahh this is gonna be a fun afternoon. I read somewhere that there's over 2GB worth of patches now for GT5. Plus there's the install before I can play the game again. Should have kept my 360 for something to do while I wait! :p
 
The updates are probably close to 2gb all up, but you don't HAVE to do the install.... damn thing takes like 75mins and it still says 'Installing' at random loading screens.

Think I may as well install if I'm waiting this long for the downloads then an extra hour won't hurt, bloody 5MB internet, if I had cable these patches would probably have downloaded by now. First time round it took me about 45 minutes for the install iirc, hope it will be the same this time. :)
 
Sorry to bump the thread, I'm just after a little bit of advice. Can anyone tell me which is the best car to use for the Super GT seasonal event? I would just buy a car and try it myself but they're quite expensive and I don't want to buy something that turns out to be a lemon. :p

Not tried that event yet, but i have 5 cars (stock) that can take part

Have you tried the Ferrari sesonal events, the 2nd on on that de la sarthe gives 504,000 credits for one lap (4min lap max).

If you need a car for that race i have a fully tuned Enzo, i can set to share. (I can also set the other cars as share aswell, i've not done any upgrades to them - but might give an idea to see what they are like before you buy and upgrade etc)
