PNY GTX 580

Hi guys just a quick one.

Wanting an upgrade from my HD5770, feeling rash and spending a fair wedge on a 580.

I can only find one review of the PNY flavour one, and it is ~50 quid cheaper (week only deal) than the ASUS DirectCUII which I have heard good things about. Any reason not to go for the PNY that anyone knows of?

Also would my 700w OCZ PSU be ample if I got a 580 and then ramped up my 2500K clock a bit?

The only reason against te PNY would be that the CS isn't great. However thats all handled by overclockers so you will be fine.

700w would be pushing it a bit too miuch. I would upgrade.

Well I definately think I'm gonna order the PNY tomorrow.

I am however doubting my PSU capabilities, all I seem to find is conflicting information on whether this http://www.ocztechnology.com/resources/drivers/GameXstream_700W_chart.jpg is ok to run an i5 2500k, GTX580 and the standard other crap.

I did have an Antec 650w truepower new (after thinking my OCZ had blown up, turns out that was my CPU instead) but that failed within 6 months and got returned. Just whacked the OCZ back in and its fine, had it since May 07... If it wasnt good enough would I'm assuming I would just experience some crashes?

You can add PNY to that list. RMA to France, but only takes about 3 days. Very friendly CS and no messing about

A 700watt PSU will be perfectly fine for a single GTX 580 and overclocked 2500k cpu..

Thanks guys, just ordered now Luckily I remembered to get a 6 pin to 8 pin PCI-E adaptor or I'd have felt silly

Agreed and I'm using a 600watt PSU

A 580 and i5 system doesnt draw anywhere near the juice that people on here think.

Dealt with them two years ago and wasn't inpressed. Maybe they've improved

Yeah, I fail. Just read OP again. For some reason I thought he had a direct CU 580 and was getting another one *facepalm*
