Amy Winehouse found dead

Absolutely, and an addict with any intention of changing their ways would change their circumstances. They'd cut out circles of friends that are a bad influence, avoid the relevant places, change their habits... Did she do those things? I'm honestly not sure, but it would appear not.

She obviously didn't want to change or didn't feel compelled enough or was just to weak to change.

She chose to do drugs and she died from her addiction. Whats the problem what is it your finding difficult to understand?

She hurt no-one but herself...She didn't steal or commit crime to feed her addiction she spent her money she earned from doing what she did.

I think this highlights an important issue as I mentioned earlier in this thread.

The police need to come down harder on people who are taking dangerous illegal substances.

Everyone knew she was a druggie and she wasn't getting her drugs from the pharmacy down at the Co-op, the old bill must have had several chances to make an arrest and that would have likely forced her to get help and saved her in the end.

The same would go for many other people, not just celebrities I'm sure. She should have helped herself though, and she didn't. Foolish.

Why should the police protect people from their own stupidity?

I don't know really. I suppose it's because they are breaking the law and funding drug dealers, etc?

People who take drugs such as those in question often get what's coming to them though, much like in this case.

Because it is illegal and the drug trade fuelled by such culture is far more serious and far reaching in it's effect and impact on society than the largely unimportant death of a flawed pop star.

By allowing the behaviour of such high profile people to go largely unpunished or un-investigated the Police are effectively condoning such behaviour and the criminal counter-culture which thrives on it.

I suppose it depends on what they did?

If they robbed from mum or burgled houses to feed their addiction then they could well get some respect from the circle of people they hang and use with.

If they won 5 grammys sold millions of records and ordinary people enjoyed their music then they would get respect from the fans

Its all relative. Get it now?

Good

She did all that ages ago. Since then she has been a nobody. A waste of oxygen tbh.
Respect from fans.... those same fans that she screwed over with her crap performances etc? yeah, great.

She did nothing of note imo, much like most druggies who end up dead while young.
She was a waster, same as her bloke. No loss to the world.

look at the size of her gob... Look at it.... JUST LOOK AT IT....

If I remember correctly, an expletive in the OED is somwhere between Decorum and Taste.

You possess neither.

The second word you need to complete the word search is Star out fully please.

Of course, if drugs were legal, they'd be easier to control, quantity would be easier to control, chances of becoming addicted as badly as she did would be hugely lowered.

If they were legal, there would be no crime associated with drugs, gang culture would have no financial incentive and gangs would almost dissappear, with no profit involved in selling drugs, there would be no reason for people to illegal sell higher quantities of drugs, when everyone would just get known quality, legal drugs for lower prices from say, designated chemists.

Drug culture is no different to culture up until 50 or so years ago, before then, drugs were legal worldwide, with a heck of a lot less crime involved in the trade.

Some people will choose a life of being whacked out of their gord, and maybe dying early, its their life and their choice to make, some people work like dogs, getting up at 6am, coming home at 10pm, and having a heart attack and dying at 45, no one stops them or even suggests they should be stopped.

She took drugs, she maybe did, or maybe didn't enjoy her life, it was all her choice, she died, so what. People die, big deal.

Oh my god, Has anyone seen the belgrade concert from june on youtube? :(
There's several clips.

I've never seen anything like it, she was well and truly out of her skull like I've not seen before. She doesn't even try to sing, it's a total shambles and her band show signs of looking very uncomfortable but they keep smiling. She just shouldn't have been allowed to go on stage and the belgradians are apparently furious.

People love reading about a celebrity car crash. It's much more uncomfortable when they see the celebrity in person going off the rails and realise they're just a broken human being. Example being everyone thinking Charlie Sheen was hilarious with his ranting on twitter, so attended his live stand up show and suddenly realised the guy was a strung out junkie inanely rambling.

One of my favourite artists is Steve Earle. Heroin nearly killed him. There's videos of him on youtube in the early 90s before he went to jail and he looks like death warmed up, it's unpleasant to watch.

I don't know what to say on this matter really. A waste yes, but inevitable. I can't say I really can show much sympathy for her....her music was also not my cup of tea but hey.

My problem is that I will be compelled to show sympathy for her now that she's dead. The press that vilified her in life will now exalt her in death.
