Wee simple question on the support cd which drivers did you install??

I'm running a SSD on the intel 6gb port do I need to install the intel chipset drivers and then the intel controller driver for the 6gb intel port??

Thanks

[EDIT] I don't like using any of the windows based overclocking utilities

You got almost the same set up as me

[EDIT] don't the auto tune overclock the CPU by the BLCK?? that's a NO NO when it comes to sandybridge...

So you installed the AI SUITE II

The auto-tune can (i'm not saying it does all the time, thats a bold statement) OC by blk+mp. When I ran the auto-OC it set the OC at 103blk x 43 giving 4.4ghz, it also killed my XMP profile, throttling back my memory. I ended up resetting everything my self in the EFI bios.

Anyway, drivers, yeah I had fun with those, lots of stuff installed but didn't detect the hardware the first time around, I found just rebooting then reinstalling said drivers solved the problem, fairly sure I just went ahead and installed everything to make sure I didn't hit any issues.

p8z68-v pro, 2600k, 8gb vengeance

I have the same board, dont use the auto overclock feature it bumps the vcore up too high. As for the integrated graphics and virtu software I can't say I'm finding it buggy, using the new graphics drivers and virtu software versions from the appropriate websites. :)

How you finding the board whats it like for overclocking and stability ?

yes i did install the AI SUITE II and i used the auto clock as i am not capable of doing it manually, but it took about 2 Min's of doing it in auto @ the end gave me 4.6 but it did try to go to 4.7 but stop. so 4.6 was the safest clock that it reached. temps seem to be OK @ cpu=37c,motherboard@28c.
bclk freq=103.MHz
CPU volt=1.27
ddr volt=1.6
CPU ratio@4635mhz

chillidog, I would go into the advanced bios settings and manually drop the blck back to 100.00 and raise the multiplier to 46. Its strongly advised not to raise the blck

HI
couple of questions?
1: doing this would take me out of auto?
2:by dropping blck back to 100.00 and raise the multi to 46 will it give me still the 4.6 i got on auto.
3:by doing the 2 changes that you mention is that all i need to do
by going into the bios and doing this am on the edge my knowlege of doing things manual in the bios am craping myself

might be better of geting an 12yr old of the street would have better knowlege than my self

Yes it would kill the 'auto OC' but the settings that the auto mode applied are in your bios, so in theory your just fine tuning the auto-OC. yup, 100blck x 46 MP gives a nice 4.6ghz, all the voltages etc... should still be set from the autotune so you shouldn't need to worry about them.

IF you hit any stability issues it may be a case of changing the voltage values, but if the OCtuner ran at the voltages in your bios I can't see no problem.

How are you guys finding this board im thinking of ordering the Asus P8Z68-V pro or Asus P8Z68-V today not sure if there is any performance difference between these 2 boards.

well i can say asus got the know and the how am finding it very good.but having said that i allways go to asus.
some diff:

the v as only got:

Dual Intelligent Processors 2 with DIGI+ VRM Digital Power Design
UEFI BIOS (EZ Mode) - Flexible & Easy BIOS Interface
LucidLogix® Virtu (Universal Switchable Graphics) - Auto Switching between Integrated Graphics and NVIDIA/AMD Cards
Intel® Smart Response Technology - SSD Speed with HDD Capacity
BT GO! (Bluetooth) - Diverse BT Enjoyment, New Technology Lifestyle
GPU Boost - Push the Limits with iGPU Level Up!
Quad USB 3.0 Support - Double Access, Double Convenience
Quad-GPU SLI and Quad-GPU CrossFireX Support!

compare to the v-pro:

Dual Intelligent Processors 2 with DIGI+ VRM Digital Power Design
UEFI BIOS (EZ Mode) - Flexible & Easy BIOS Interface
LucidLogix® Virtu (Universal Switchable Graphics) - Auto Switching between Integrated Graphics and NVIDIA/AMD Cards
Intel® Smart Response Technology - SSD Speed with HDD Capacity
BT GO! (Bluetooth) - Diverse BT Enjoyment, New Technology Lifestyle
GPU Boost - Push the Limits with iGPU Level Up!
Quad USB 3.0/SATA 6Gb/s Support - Double Access, Double Convenience
Quad-GPU SLI and Quad-GPU CrossFireX Support!

for wot i can make out the only diff is the quad usb 3.0 support.
not sure the price diff.
for wot i can see and read people are buying them and rating them

i think i done that ok the only diff i made is that i rise blck to 101 @46 in which gave me spot on 4.6ghz.and so far runs ok
cpu temp @ 41c
motherb@32c
@ idle
not sure if thats good or bad?

Turn speed step on, it should drop your idle temps down below 30'c (though it drops your mp to x16)

Idle I get, cpu @ 27'c, mb @ 26'c and under load at 4.4ghz I get, cpu @ 48'c, mb @ 32'c using a freezer pro 13 cooler. My temps are pretty good considering theres 2 x 6950's and its an NZXT Gamma midi case.

As for the -v difference, I think its just down to extra ports (more usb 3.0 and sata3 connectors), the asus spec page should states key differences.

Speaking of drivers, I thought I had installed all the latest drivers from the Asus website but it seems I haven't.

Does anyone know what drivers I should install for the 2 things below?

Any help would be great :)

Check my post history I had the same things missing yesterday and got them sorted ;)

Edit- I'm pretty sure it was engine management interface and chipset drivers I installed
