Huge explosion at the government quarters in Oslo.

So this guy didnt like Marxism and he believed that liberalism is the cause of multiculturalism which he didn't like either. Yes he did write a book about this.

This crossed my mind aswell. Does he have no wife or girlfriend?

In that manifesto thing he talks about sleeping with prostitutes and has saved up money for a luxury one so that his mind and body would be fully prepared for what he was doing.

So I guess not :p

The obvious question would be how did he get off the island?

If he was dressed normally he could have just blended in with the crowd, or swam away and got picked up by a boat pretending to be a survivor. I don't think going under the radar would be difficult in a situation like that.

I think the focus of this discussion has been lost.

many people want to know why this guy killed a lot of people? Reading into the many beliefs this person had there are many conclusions to be drawn. Its as if there will be a magic key we will find and be able to stop these people from doing such acts again in future?

the truth is more like until we can identify biologically perhaps via a DNA trait what key piece of 'moral' organic code is missing given that this is an evolutionary learned structure then we will never have the freedom from such acts.

this doesn't living like in the movie 'equilibrium' but it might mean that at birth we can substantially improve the lives of people who otherwise would become victim to their own psychopathic acts.

we should favour science over psychology

I'm not sure that moral codes are related to dna , I tend to think that morals are more related to a persons psychology than their biology. As an example, I would wager that I could round up 80 people and slaughter them all and most people on here would not only think I did the right thing but would be happy I did it. It merely depends on whom the 80 people are.

Norway gunman deems killings "atrocious,"necessary"

In his first comment via a lawyer since he was arrested, 32-year-old Anders Behring Breivik expressed willingness to explain himself in court at a hearing likely to be held on Monday about extending his custody.

"He has said that he believed the actions were atrocious, but that in his head they were necessary," lawyer Geir Lippestad told independent TV2 news, adding that his client admitted to both the shootings and the bombing.

Ill take you on that bet, because its bull.

Psychology is science, you neanderthal.

That's your view and that's fair enough. I reckon that if I took 80 serial child rapists and slaughtered them most people on here would indeed think I did the right thing and be happy about it.

Sour over the closure of the news of the world are we? The lack of a death penalty in this country proves you democratically wrong.

I didn't read news of the world, but kudos to you for the stereotyping. I think the death penalty issue is hard to declare unless we have a referendum on it. I'd be interested to see what the outcome of a referendum on the return of the death penalty would be to be honest.

Worst example ever - something like 67% of the public consistently support the death penalty being put in place in polls :p

The lack of death penalty in this country is proof that we don't have a pure democracy (thankfully or not depending on your view) but rather a representative one.

I would say that all psychopathic behaviour are due to brain damage (my opinion is that some individuals could have genetic origins).

Historically not all the practitioners of Psychology have been very rigorous with the use of the scientific method . And it got worst when certain schools started to play with statistics. It has improved over the last years, but still has a bit to do to catch up with other disciplines of the mind.

Tombstone what you are doing right now is called Demagogy, keep the drama out of law making.

Source?

edit: oh right, the observer in 2003. Good sauce. The 'poll' also says: Support for the death penalty is strongest among those aged 65+ (86 per cent) and lowest among those aged 25-34 (55 per cent).

So the lowest support rate is amongst the OcUK forum key demographic.

Or do you happen to know allot of pensioners posting on here?

Here's the first one I saw which seemed to broadly consistent with what I recalled.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2003/apr/27/ukcrime13

It tends to vary depending on what's been in the news - I suspect a poll right now would be a lot more in favour than one a few days ago, for example.

My favourite is the "99% of Sun readers support the DP" poll which accompanied an article reciting all the most well-known paedophile, rapist and murder cases over the last decade :p

*edit* Is there something wrong with the Observer or this poll or are you just being a generic SourceTard?

Here's a few more:

http://today.yougov.co.uk/sites/tod...ives-Life-YouGov-FirstDegreeMurder-100910.pdf

51% For, 37% against, 12% not sure

http://www.ipsos-mori.com/researchpublications/researcharchive/poll.aspx?oItemId=163

50-45 split For/Against.

http://www.metro.co.uk/news/747748-half-of-us-back-death-penalty

54% For, 30% Against

http://www.angus-reid.com/polls/30995/half_of_britons_would_reinstate_death_penalty/

50% For, 40% against, 12% not sure

So I'll admit it looks I was a little out of date with more recent polls showing a decline in support (In 1994 it was 75% in favour I believe) but still, the death penalty you can fairly comfortably say is supported by the majority of the population and the lack of it is quite the opposite to evidence of 'the voice of democracy'

Yeah, it's especially mind-boggling when it comes out of people you thought of as intellectually capable individuals.
