i5-2500K worth the upgrade ?

think I asked before, but cant remember getting an answer,,

Does this board have, fan/temp control in the bios ?
By this I mean, you can set a fan speed to change at a given temp

There is two system fan ports on the board iirc, at least thats what there is in the settings along with a cpu fan speed :)

Think you can set the cpu to kickin at a certain temp but not the system fans.

fan control is a must for me in a new board,
Really only need one port I can control, as i have a spliter cable for 3 fans that you can plug into 1 port on the MB
Bought it from OC last year i think

Asus P8Z68-V

4.3.6 ASUS FAN Xpert
Asus Fan Xpert allows you to adjust both the CPU and chassis fan speeds according to different ambient temperatures and your PC’s system loading. The various fan profiles offer flexible controls of fan speeds to achieve a quiet and cool system environment.

wink-wink-nudge-nudge. ;)

Look at the online manual of the motherboards you are interested in, see if it fits your requirements.

4.3.6 ASUS FAN Xpert, is this a windows based util ?

I want it to be bios controlled, I hate all the rubbish bloated software, a lot of witch comes with mother board cds.

Olivier I still have'nt made a final choice on a board, its driving me nuts

oops

I have looked at some online manual's but they not always very clear or simply dont say.

like the MSI boards, they dont state they support 1600MHZ ram, thread on here somewhere that someone has said it dont. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18298825
Though I presume the boards do support it in oc form.
But that leads me to think of problems down the road !!

By definition, anything above 1333MHz on Sandybridge is considered overclocking. I know Asus has some System fan control, don't know about MSIs.

MSI P67-GD63

SYS Fan 1/ 2 Control
These items allow users to select how percentage of speed for the SYSFAN1/ 2.

They are 3 pin headers for system fans, with a fixed speed control. I don't know about the other MSIs, but if there are no mention of it, then It wont support any kind of control.

your a top bloke Olivier, Thanks

well you must be ok with a name like that. My names Oliver :p
