1.5Gb broadband anyone?

I disagree, considering i remember when they trialled 50mb in london, then a few years ago 100mb was trialled and now it is slowing rolling out across the country... so who knows, in 5 years we could have a XL broadband package for 1.5Gb... or you can have the cheap option which only offers 256mbps :p

and yet while they continue to roll out better and better connections and people who are on 50 mb complain they can't yet get 100 mb lots of people like me are still dealing with shared half mb connections. i fail to see how trialing 1.5 gb connection is anything but a waste of time and money.

Yeah thats a fair point.

More over not only do I wish they would allow more people to use 100mb, i wish they would just extend the cable network to have more coverage. They may be beating BT Infinity on speed, but BT has government funding to eventually get better coverage.

I know this all revolves around money but this is stupid. They should focus on nation wide optical fibre instead of implementing those speeds which are not needed.

50mb is overkill for most consumers let alone the 100mb and then 1.5Gb xD. Many areas of the UK are still under 5mb.

Virgin Media are already trialling fibre over telegraph poles to see if they can expand their network.

They are also in talks about using BT's fibre ducts to bring FTTC for their broadband and TV.

They are not going to expand their current style of cable delivery (Fibre to cabinet and then coaxial to the home). Cost would be far too high to dig up the roads.

Haha, I know the feeling, I get somewhere between 2.5-3Mbps so I'm slightly better off (I can sync higher if I manipulate the SNR further, but that introduces too many errors and disconnects for my liking, especially as with BT's profile system, its roughly half a meg sync increase per effective speed increase).

It's frustrating to know that not only am I paying more for a slower connection, with more rigid limitations than those on similar specced LLU, but that I'd be WILLING TO PAY a reasonable amount (I already pay over £30 a month) to get a better line but there's absolutely no option for me (excluding incredibly private fibre which just isn't realistic)

Like you say; whilst we're a lot better off than we were 7 years ago; without ADSL2+/LLU/Optical rolling out further, you're seeing an ever increasing digital divide whereby some of us are way below the national average (which is about 4-5Mbps IIRC), whilst some areas are literally heaving with high speed options. I really feel for those with sub-2Mbps lines as BT themselves all but don't care.

'Just move' just isn't an option for a lot of us.
