Is there a sardine shortage?

SkScotchegg in "why is everyone disagreeing with me" shocker...

For a chap that claims to know about nutrition, it's pretty funny to see that you avoid meat for "health" reasons.

Out of interest, why don't you eat chicken?

dietary cholesterol != blood cholesterol

No it doesn't, not really anyway. You'd only have an issue if you had a pre-existing problem.

Mate, you just asked me a question...you know the only thing I did wrong in this thread was to answer questions...because for every question I've answered people have laughed at me and attacked me...

So it was my mistake to answer your questions, I realise that now...maybe in the future if this ever comes up again I wont answer.

Also I have been attacked before at a party when people were questioning why I dont eat meat so this is prob 2nd or 3rd time I've had to deal with people attacking me.

I dont have to explain to anyone why I eat what I eat, I can eat chicken if I want or not if I dont...it's probably rare you'll find a pesceterian bodybuilder but hey, now you've met one.

I think if we were all in same room having this conversation, this conversation would have been over in first 60 seconds yet on forums you get a bunch of idiots who like to start arguments over nothing, attack people and try make themselves look good...just pathetic.

Jesus christ you've got your panties in a twist Sally, nobody has insulted you yet you keep calling everyone idiots.

It's general discussion and people were trying to have a discussion with you. Asking why you do something isn't an insult.

Read the last 4 pages and then come back and say that nobody has attacked me...look at the wording used by different members and how they talk...

If people had just asked me a question, that would be one thing, but thats not whats happened, maybe some people have but others havent which is why it annoyed me.

EDIT: If you read the last 4 pages from my point of view and dont think that its ridiculous...the thread wasnt even about my diet, it was about sardines shortage...

EDIT 2: Actually there were several things that annoyed me in this thread, people telling me eating egg whites is unhealthy and the rest of my diet, and also going on about animal cruelty and also the attacking me part...it's almost like people have a problem/issues with me and what I eat, my beliefs, everything.

I imagine thats what you're buying.. I dont think they're freerange.

Those are but double the price for what you're paying so you'd be paying 40quid for eggs instead of 20quid.

Though I dont think Pescetarians have to eat free range do they?

The first link doesnt work for me, the ones I get on that page of eggs is the:
"ASDA Eggs Medium Cooks Value
(30pk)
£2.98"
Underneith it says:
"All Asda Fresh eggs come from units approved by and operating to the BEIC Lion Quality Code of Practice."

On wiki it just says a pesceterian it someone who eats fish & eggs.

Also found this:
Definition for pescetarian:
Pescetarianism, also called pesco-vegetarianism, is the practice of a diet that includes seafood and excludes other animals. In addition to fish and/or shellfish, a pescetarian diet typically includes some or all of vegetables, fruit, nuts, grains, beans, eggs and dairy. ....

Hey egg boy! (sorry :D)

How do you serve these eggs? Do you just eat a big plate full of egg whites? Salt?

I've never had tinned sardines. Do they come as a complete fish with eyeballs? Do you eat the whole fish? Are they not boney?

Body builders develop all kinds of health problems.

Maybe ones on steroids or HGH otherwise I have to disagree, I believe bodybuilders nutrition is the best in todays society, and I dont take steroids or HGH.

I only have to look at what my family and friends eat to know that my diet is better...oats/spinach/egg whites/fish...over processed food/takaways/sweets/chocolate/beers/cigarettes.

I dont smoke, drink or do drugs either.

Atleast buy yourself a chicken or 40 chickens, this way you could save yourself a trip to the supermarket

You would make your money back in no time

lol @ egg boy, I'll accept that title...I eat egg whites in an omlette, I use a really healthy cooking spray made from olive oil, think its called 1 calerie spray from asda, all supermarkets sell it though and cook using griddle pan.

10 egg whites in a jug, whisk it, poor it in, and then just eat it on its own.

As for the sardines, the head/guts have been taken out, they do have bones but they are edable, not like other fish, hard to explain, sort of soft...am sure I saw in a documentry once that certain fish in the oceans dont have bones, they have something else, cant remember the word...its made out of different stuff...you'd have to search online to find out more info...they dont bother you when eating anyways.

You can buy sardines in tomato pure, olive oil, spring water, brine, sunflower oil etc.

I found a picture of the OP on bodybuilding.com and I have to say he does look fairly impressive:

Well I've been buying them from ASDA for past year, but I think as of next month I'm just going to buy egg white cartons from eggnation...slightly more expensive but will be easier and more convenient.

It says 1 litre is equivalent to 33 egg whites...so its £33 for 7 litres of "Free-range egg whites tetrapak" and then I'll just use 1 litre a day divided between 3 meals.

Maybe if eggboy (LOL) didn't say he was pescetarian in the first place people wouldn't have judged him on an ethical level as people who label themselves into some sort of dietary group always have some ethical standpoint.

Maybe you should have just said you eat sardines and eggs every day and wondered why you couldn't get sardines you would have made it so simple for yourself.

No it doesn't, not really anyway. You'd only have an issue if you had a pre-existing problem.

Well a high protein diet results in a increased GFR and thus increased pressure in the glomerular capillaries which can lead to a slow chronic glomerular damage. Its only really a problem if you have some sort of underlying renal pathology.

It can also result in a leaches calcium from the bones which is not a issue for you because you are eating sardines which are high in calcium however if you switch to tuna you may fine that calcium is leached from the bones more and you could with time end up with osteoporosis. This can also cause kidney stones.

Its not a huge risk but just something to keep in mind.

Tinned sardines have lots of cheap protein yes but they also have a lot of salt as well strangely, only takes a few cans a day to push you very near the 6g salt per day limit that seems to be their only catch.

Irrelevant provided that he drinks plenty of water.

I appretiate the links but it looks like this might just be my city, I found other artiucles online that said it was like this in liverpool too.

I've been to every supermarket I can think of over past few weeks and they didnt have...some of the supermarkets said they've been discontinued.

Also I think even tho they're on the tesco's website if you ordered them they wouldnt arrive. Prob best checking your local store or giving them a call first.

I got tuna today just for this week, but I've just decided I'm going to buy cartons of egg whites next week from online and also try and buy everything else online, maybe try different types of fish, depends what I can find and the right price.
