Hey Guys,

Posted a similar thread a while back for a mobile for a budget of around £380.

Budget is now of £230 maximum and i'd like it to be preferably android.

The only one i can really see would be the HTC Wildfire S, and it seems nice.

Looked at the ChaCha (facebook phone) because of the full qwerty) and it seems nice as well but i don't really know if there are others out there for the same price range and would be better in places etc.

Suggestions please, as well as price points (if possible)

Thanks :)

No! The Wildfire S is not nice.

Is second hand ok? If so -

Xperia Arc, HTC Desire S, HTC Incredible S, Motorola Defy, Galaxy S, HTC Desire, Desire HD

Any of those will be around that price range (not all, you'll need a bit of luck).

Defy can be had for like £260 new right? How about the Galaxy S/Incredible S, where would i find them second hand for my budget? The Bay, Gumtree and stuff?

If that is the best Android phone in budget then unless you really need to go for Android then go for something like the LG Optimus 7. Within budget I think and trounces that Wildfire in every way (unless you really want Android...).

I'm sure there are other android phones out that will better the Wildfire S for that price though. :)

Motorola Defy can be had for £200 new. As can the Nexus One i believe if you look around. Other than that (and used) it might be worth hanging out for the Orange Monte Carlo, which is likely to get a decent developer following.

I'm not sure about the Defy new prices, but it's quite cheap, yeah.

I've just had a look on eBay and there are some nice examples for around £230 of all the mentioned phones. That is just buy it now though, at auction you can probably save even more.

Out of those I'd get the Incredible S or Xperia Arc, without a doubt.

Mhmm, i was looking at Galaxy S prices on eBay just now, will have a browse for the Incredible S :).

The Galaxy S is nice too and likely a bit cheaper than the Incredible S, but I'd go for the Incredible S purely because it's the only phone I haven't had out of the top end phones (and the Arc) and it's extremely well rounded.

It's a lovely design, too.

It is that.

Also like the size of the screen, and the capacitive buttons with no physical buttons on the face at all.

i will look at some unboxings and reviews on the tube, see what its like, maybe see if i can have a fiddle with one at my local orange store (not buying from them of course)

If the tech lover within you is telling you to get a dual-core phone, you can get an Atrix or Optimus 2X for sub £300 most likely, so that might be worth looking out for.

Whether you need dual-core or not is entirely down to you.

How about the Nexus S? Seems to be one at BIN for £235 bet they go cheaper on auction. Having pure stock android is kinda awesome. Also cool getting all the latest Android versions first. I miss my Nexus One :D.

Realy nice looking hardware

Aye, the Nexus S is a fair shout too. I always forget that :p

I like Sense UI though and don't care for NFC. Though they just installed it at my local McDonalds...

:) I like Sense UI a bit, from looking at it of course, i have a little SanFran :D

And mhmm, a dual-core phone.....atrix looks nice, might have a look :D

Second hand:
Sony Ericsson Arc: This is probably the best single core (Android) phone atm?
HTC Desire S/Incredible S/HD: Same phone, different size screens. Solid not spectacular.
Samsung Galaxy S/Nexus S: Great vfm but looks like a large iPhone 3G.

New:
Huawei U8800 Titan: £170 from cpwh. Try one out... seriously good vfm 2nd gen snapdragon/stock Android phone, 1.8GHz tally ho! (crap camera but they've got to cut costs somewhere)
Motorola Defy: ~£200. Still the best all rounder per £££? with great battery life. There's a Defy+ coming out soon, it's almost identical but could drive og prices down below £200? (Average camera)
HTC 7 Pro/LG Optimus 7: £180-£220. If you like keyboards and WP7 :p
Motorola Atrix: ~£330 import from US with 1 year warranty.
Nokia N8: ~£230. Ask Robbo? :p

Looked at the HTC 7 Pro as i like the idea of the keyboard, haven't looked at the Optimus 7, but will do now.

save up another £150 and do yourself a big favour :p

I understand that, but i think ill just stick with what budget i have for now, unless something exceedingly awesome with gazillion plumes of potential, which may make me consider to wait until i start university :D

Found a HD7 on a competitors website for £289.99.

Seems to be the cheapest i've seen it for so far, especially off contract/sim free :)
