2x 6950 In crossfire or something else?

Hi all long time reader, but first time poster.
I am currently specking my new build, on which i hope to play Battlefield 3 as well as possible.

My current plan was to run 2 x 6950's in Crossfire, driving either a single 2560x1440 monitor, or 3 x 1920x1080 in eyefinity (I am still undecided but edging towards a single large monitor, as that's easier to get past the wife).

For the £400 i am looking to pay are the dual 6950 the best plan, or should I be looking at something else? Any feedback would be appreciated.
 
Problem is most questions i have ever thought about asking are answered in another thread, so did not want to anger the forum rage with duplicate threads :)
 
560Ti SLI also can beat the 6950's for less but you'd have to do some overclocking.

IMO, it's two of THESE if you get the 6950's as MSI is easily the best brand there.

I believe that THIS beats the MSI 6950 at 1080p

At 2560x1440 or above as the op is planning, I doubt the 560's are going to get the better of 6950 xfire. Due to the lack of vram, no matter how much you oc the 560's, they will start spiking and dropping frames.

6950 CF is the best. I would get the MSI ones that I said in my post

I'd remove that link. Loads of competitors!

The only one that was £155 was coming from mainland europe and had a £15 shipping fee. RMA's would be an absolute pain. Also, the retailer I was talking about is nearly as reliable and trustworthy as OcUK

All the others came to £200 inc VAT

You've broken the no competitors rule many times over with that link.

Basically for a single 24in monitor on 1920 gaming, ud recommend 560ti instead of 6950 2gb?

That card was my choice before they changed the fan on it, looks ugly now, also before i discovered directcuii sin/fans

I'd recommend not to bother about SLI/CF of 1GB cards. Either 560 Ti 2GB x 2 SLI or 6950 2GB x 2 CF would be fine. Personally I prefer the latter, due to better scaling.
