So far i have found these:

DELL Inspiron 15R 3GB
sped:
CPU:
Intel Core i3-380M Processor
- 2.53 GHz

Ram:
3GB dd3

320gb hard drive

1366 x 768

i also found a HP g6-1013sa 4GB

AMD Phenom™ II X4 P960 Processor
- 1.8 GHz

4gb ddr3

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250

500GB drive

All the person needs it for is word excel and publisher etc... batterly life dosent really matter as it will mostly stay at home.

So which ones better!?
Thanks

If it stays at home all the time and used for Office work then I guess something with a bigger screen would be preferable?

But what would you choose for that budget?

I found this:

TOSHIBA Satellite C670D-108 17.3
AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350
- 1.6 GHz
- 4GB installed DDR3 RAM
AMD Radeon™ HD 6310 Graphics
1600 x 900 pixels
320GB 5400rpm

I do not like the look of that duel core processor and also a 320gb hdd is a bit small

do not buy one of these, this processor is designed to contend with the dual core atoms. They have started putting it into laptops as it is cheap but performance is archaic.

these are really designed for ultra portables and up to 13” travel notebooks where performance isn’t an issue but you want good battery life.

by £400 you should get a new i3 2310 processor with HD3000 graphics which will outperform most in this price bracket.

do not be tempted by ati 6310, 4250, 4330, 4200 dedicated graphics over the HD3000 integrated solution as they are not good performers with the 6310 being on par with the older intel GMA solution.
