A unified OcUK MMO community site?

Oh, well I had intended it to be a demo of the idea rather than the actual site, but if nobody else wants to create the site then that one can be used by all means. Input and ideas for how it should be laid out and features/structure or any artwork (header images and so on) that people want to design so that everyone gets the best use out of it are always useful. We've got so many MMOers here it'd be good to give them all an entry point to any OcUK MMO guild.

Yeah I was trying to think of something which represented the word Overclocker but wasnt so "technical" sounding, again names are easily changed if people have better ones.

I've added a link to the OcUK Rift guild website under the Rift heading. (hopefully thats an aid to show how the site wouldnt overstep any bounds and can be simply a handy way for people to find a route to the ocuk guild site of their mmo choice)

I've added a working SW:ToR section, with various forums to give some idea of how that would work. (that should give some idea of how this sort of thing could work)

As per No1newts suggestion, I have added a SW:ToR member list section on the SW:ToR heading too which would show the ocuk swtor members list.

Yeah, had a few days off due to having no children, so we have been eating out and relaxing.
I should be on tonight, although I do have an electrician around in the evening, not sure what impact this will have on the power in my Office. I will certainly get on though if I can at around 18:30
 
What are you building the site with? I strongly recommend sticking wordpress + buddypress on there. It has a lot of awesome features that you can easily leverage for your site :)

That test site is knocked up with a templated site place (Enjin) bit like guildportal/guildlaunch etc.

In days gone by I used to knock up sites myself from scratch but I dont have the time to do that sort of thing nowadays so for sheer ease of time I used that one to knock up a test site. Its less flexible but takes less time to manage. They do have a module that can be added which works like wordpress so can add that.

Ah, I should've checked the link :)

Wordpress/Buddypress isn't really a "from scratch" solution. It has templating/etc, much like any CMS. It has a very extensive plugin and template repository too, so you've got a lot of options.

Anyhow, I'm not trying to make you change your mind about the site building choice. Just thought I'd throw it in there as I'm a bit of a WP/BP fanatic :p

No no, by all means ! Its not changing my mind as such, as I say this was originally intended as a visual aid to make it easier for people to see how the concept of the MMO community site would work in practice. I just knocked it up in that because it was quick and easy, if anyone wants to run with the idea of the MMO community site and set it up and run it thats brilliant. If anyone wants to go with this sort of one, thats brilliant too :) I'm happy to do something like this one as it takes up very little of my (rather limited) time, the ultimate aim was to get discussion on the idea and see if enough people thought it was a good idea that something would get set up. Not too fussed about how its set up or who by :)
 
Ah, I don't really have the time to set something up either to be honest :p I'd be happy to give people hosting/web space on the linktart dedi and give some advice on using WP/BP if needed but I'm also sadly lacking in the time to do a project like this myself.

Yeah I figure a lot of people are in this same boat, ultimately something thats quick and easy and doesnt make people spend more time creating and managing the site rather than playing the MMOs they are paying for (or not paying for in the case of Guild Wars 2 :) ) is ideal (unless the person doesnt mind spending the time).
