Why is it so hard to pay off debts!

One company let me do it over the phone, but still couldnt calculate final interest, so ive 8 days interest left to pay next month!

One company dont let you pay over the phone, so had to do it online! God knows if there is anything more to pay next month, no doubt they will charge interest and there will be crud to pay forever and a day.

Another give me a decent settlement amount, but I had to do a bank transfer!

Another one took about 40 mins on the phone to understand what I wanted to do.

I give up, maybe I should have let everything default, rather than paying off my debts and helping turn this country around single handedly :D

Creation are really bad for this, we took our some interest free credit on a couple of chairs last year (£1250). We had the money at time to pay it off but decided to keep it in investment for the 12 month period and then pay it off when its due.

However they make it so hard for you to do so, they clearly want you to drop onto their 29.9% apr repayment as the whole interest is due from day 1. You cant bank transfer it to them to settle, we could pay with a CC online but they charge 4% “admin” fee on each transaction and I’m damned if I’m paying an extra £50 to pay it off early. The only option that they give you is to post a cheque to them. From reading around the net they are more likely to loose said cheque than actually cash it.

Lesson learned though, I’ll never do It again like that, its ran by cowboys.

Everyone gets into debt sometime in their life, so telling someone to not get into debt is just stupid.

There are two types of debt, good debt and bad debt. If you went into debt buying fancy tv's, and cars(And generally anything that depreciates rapidly) you can't afford its bad debt. If you invest in a house, or education than its good debt.

So yeah pretty much everyone goes into debt, but some people are stupid about it.

But so is coming on a forum and moaning about having to pay off a load of debts and possibly considering defaulting on them.

Ah, that's probably one of the most annoying things when some plonker says "oh mummy and daddy paying for everything?" or whatever else. Who gives a crap if they are paying?! Just jealousy (not aimed at you :p)

You're damned right it's jealousy! :D

Wish my parents had paid for everything, then I wouldn't have squandered my 20s in debt! LOL.

No ive not got a load of cash, if I did id have blown it... instead yes, theres an income thats hit me and first priority was to wipe off 36k (yikes!) of debt (not including mortgage).

Its been hard managing that debt and not defaulting, but it was debt we accrued (sometimes bad, but also sometimes necessary) and rather than getting by, im lucky enough to be able to clear it and start a fresh.

My thread was just a moan about how hard it actually was to explain to someone that I wanted to clear my debt etc - you would have thought a simple card transaction and a thank you sir would be the way to go, obviously not :(
