Nikon never made any fuss about the recent lens releases, so everyone's guessing its going to be new DSLR body revealing.

What are people looking forward to? hoping for a D700 replacement here so the D700 price might drop to affordable levels for poor students ;)

Theres new lenses which can be preordered in a few places that are released late august, maybe thats part of it?

Surely D4 time, the only question is whether it's accompanied by a D400 or D800. If the D800 is out at the same time I can't see it getting the same sensor as the D4 and there isn't a hand me down option out there (which Nikon have loved doing in the past) so that means a custom sensor for the D800. Which likely means expensive.

A D400 though can use the much rumored 24MP Sony sensor though, and the D300s is in great need of replacement. 10fps and ISO 51200 maybe?

God knows what the D4 will bring though, I'm guessing basically a D3s with 18-20MP and video, keeping the ISO range and the like and around 10-12fps. Superceeds the D3s and the D3x can stay as the studio camera. But that seems a small upgrade for the jump to the next generation. Who knows.

Surely worth looking forward to though, even if the D800, which is what I really want, might not turn up.

Definitely hoping for the D700 replacement (D800) as seems to be the general consensus here at the moment. Spoke to one of the chaps at Calumet about two months ago and he reckoned that we would see a phasing out of the D700's before the replacement was released, any industry folks know anything about any reduced orders or the like of the D700's?

D700 stock has been so low since release we would never know if Nikon are winding supply down.

I'm hoping for something that can do 30/60fps video in at least 720p while still being a decent still camera.

I think they will announce the D800 and 50 f/1.8 and 40mm f/2.8 lenses, im praying for D7000 price drop! but I doubt that will happen :(

Another 50 1.8 ... why

Wouldn't say no to a 70-200 F4, something i really really want from my mates collection considering i cant ever afford an F2.8 telephoto :( except maybe the old Sigma/tamron models with the noisy as hell focus motor.

Well the rumours are there's only two bodies to be announced. One *HAS* to be the D4, the other? It wouldn't surprise me if the D300 replacement is full-frame - combining the D700 and D300 into one.

Won't one be the new mirrorless camera system? (+ was this pic viral marketing or fake?)

Surely the mirrorless system would use the F-mount?

I'm hoping for a D300s replacement along with the D3 replacement like the announcement in 2007. Not everyone who wants pro-level features wants/can afford full-frame kit.

Ideally a D700 replacement with HD video - that would suit me down to the ground. Dont need better ISO noise or MP myself but Im sure they would be gladly accepted :)
