It depends on what you plan on doing in the future i guess with regards to single/cf setup,
If your only going to have a single card id go for the 6970 from your friend, However if your planing on going cf down the road i think id rather have x2 6950 tf3 as regards to x2 his radeon 6970's purely because of the looks, heat and noise that the his radeon's would create in comparison to the tf3's

Im going cf in the near future that's why im thinking about it carefully. Its just such a good deal to refuse though..

6950 as it will be cheaper to get a second. 6950 CF is powerful enough to handle practically everything on full.

Also better RMA and CS and cooler.
