Me and Rotty haven't banged heads about podcasts yet :p Where do we stand on those Rotty? What if it's something that's available on the iTunes store?

Have I missed something here  ? If the worry is that this something that is normally paid for then it isn't as it is free on iTunes.

We're not allowed to post links to mixes as there's a rule that you need to have consent from whoever made the mix and they have to prove that they have the rights to use the tracks in the performance. And no soundcloud links. Only youtube. As youtube apparently deal with copyright, whereas soundcloud don't.

Ah OK, I was unaware of this. I shall also add the iTunes link to the OP so all bases are covered :D.

that's pretty much it, we have to be aware at all times that this forum is linked a business and as such need to be super cautious

Does it cover the mix for the length of it's existence on gods green earth and for it to be redistributed? What about replaying it to a crowd/audience?

Every track you buy from a legal site is watermarked so if that track ends up on torrents sites it can be traced back to the buyer,i have been doing mixes for 21 years and have never ran into copyright issues from my mixes even on radio broadcasts,as the station will pay the royalties through organizations like Ascap,Bmi,Sesac, and SoundExchange,a lot of underground music probably isnt on them,i use a lot of promos given to me free from labels to try out in clubs so they are given me permission to use these tracks for an audience whether its in a club radio or for cd mixes.

the problem is we can't check every one and verify these things so we have to be cautious and not allow them

sorry but we don't allow any links, hints or offers, may sound a bit draconian but those are the rules that were made by the management ;)

I don't get it, we are not allowed to post links to a website that is hosting a mix because it might not be legal?
How is OcUK in breach of any law? They are not hosting the mix themselves?

Does this mean krooton cannot post his links anymore (sure you have done in the past, i've got a few!)?
