Looking for a quiet case

It has no sound dampening material and has a massive mesh at the front, not exactly what you want if you are going down the quiet route.

R3 F TW.

My ft01 has a big mesh at the front and kama bay and is very quiet.

Sound proofing does little I know I have some and I am sure that going from a rubbish case to the lancool will be fine for OP's needs it's still going to be very quiet.
Plus he says it gets very hot and the fractals aren't too great for cooling added to which the build quality / transport damage issues lately.

Fractal's R3 are probably the best balance of sound and performance - and of course if your get a damaged unit you just send it straight back until such times as you get a 100% functioning case in your hands ... if you have a 2500k or 2600k though I don't really think that CPU temp is going to be the deciding factor on your overclock as they tend to run pretty cool.

They are hot if you just use the stock fans, but who just uses the stock fans? It's got space for 7 fans, so you can have as much airflow as you want.

The R3 is Silent.

No case is silent people are going from terrible cases to the R3 so it's no wonder they might exaggerate how good it is ? has it occurred to anyone that some people are going from noisy fans to the 2x stock fractals at low rpm and being impressed ?, I still say the lancool's a much better buy it's much cheaper better built (it's lian li) and will get the job done just fine at quiet sound levels. Not calling the R3 bad at all just saying that it does seem to be a lot of peoples first good case and quiet fans so they have no frame of reference.

The guys not going from a quiet case so the stock 140mm and 120mm in the lancool will probably shock him how quiet it is added to this I think that cases with only 120mm front intake support are outdated a 140mm+ fan is always going to be quieter.

Regardless he should get the silverstone raven 3 for £107 anyway the 180mm air penetrators set to low will be whisper quiet and cool better.

I will need to keep a lot of these cases in mind, my girlfriend wants a machine built and assuming it's not going to be such high performance, I imagine she'll also want it to be nice and quite, with a gentle purr.

the airflow in the R3 is very good. if you have good cable management in your rig with an R3 you get very good temps. Got a white R3 myself, very nice case. Cool, quiet and nice to look at :) also, at the moment i only have 2 fans in the case, a fractal fan in the front(top-most mount) and an aerocool shark fan(not very quiet aha) hook these up to a fan controller, one comes with the case. Turn the fans up when gaming and you get good temps.
