Hi All,

Been quiet for, well, a while.

Sadly Dad died suddenly of heart failure back in June, and I'm trying to help piece togethe the value of the estate so we can sort out getting a grant of probate.

I know this is hugely cheeky, but I know a lot of people on here have ways of getting car valuations. I need to try and get an accurate one for the paperwork.

Car is a 2010 (10 plate) Peugeot 308CC, I believe its a 2.0 HDI, non GT spec, and with about 12,000 miles on the clock.

Appreciate any help you can give OCUK !

edit - would be good if you could confirm what type of valuation (Private/Trade/Retail) and how you've got the valuation (Parkers, HPI, Glass's guide, whatever)

Sorry to hear about your father, I'm sure the appropriate elite crew member will be along with the reliable valuation asap, I believe he has been PM'd

Sorry to hear of your father

Glass's comes up with the following is it's SE spec

Peugeot 308 CC SE
2.0TD Diesel 2-door Cabriolet
6 Speed Manual Front Wheel Drive
Year: 2010 10
Mileage: 11,000

Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition:
£13450

Average condition:
£12800

Below average condition:
£11650

Thanks for the replies guys,

I need to give a fair valuation to the solicitor so he can complete the Probate forms. I *think* based on other factors we should come in under the IHT limit, so HMRC won't be massively bothered about accuracy, but those Glass's prices, what would you add to them to give a Private sale and Retail price so I can give the solicitor all 3? Something like

Trade £13450
Private £14250
Retail £ 14995

?

To be fair mate, when my Mum passed away the solicitor asked me just for a rough figure. I'm not saying totally write it down, but do youself a favour if in danger of IHT. Sorry for your loss.

Because of the home ownership being Joint Tenant instead of Tenant in common, and all the life insurance and pension payouts being 'In Trust' it sounds like we should be comfortably below the £325k cap, so yes, we can be rough.

However, I'm doing all the paperwork prep for the solicitor to bring down costs and speed up the process. Based on the fact I've got to sign something to say I've exhausted all avenues to value the estate, getting a proper valuation like this for the car seemed like a good idea.

That way, IF, HMRC decide to do a full investigation to the claim as a spot check, theres a load of paperwork to back everything up.
