Hey guys,

I'm looking to protect my joints in the long run I've been taking omega 3/6/9 tablets from m y p rotein they have worked good so far.

they are about to run out so....

what I need is some ideas:

* is it worth taking omega 3 6 and 9 or shall I just stick with omega 3?

* cheapest way to do this in the long run

thanks

I take ground flax seed (contains Omega 3, 6 and 9) mixed in with cereal for breakfast, and Glusasomine Sulphate + Chondroitin. They all seem to do the trick, although might take a while to notice a difference as they build up slowly over time.

thanks so what's the deal with omega 3

why not 6 and 9?

I'll check out omega 3 then instead.

btw freefaller giant I agree about mega cissus - can hide injuries and make them worse
it's a false supplement due to it's analgesic nature.

I take glucosamine once it starts getting cold, it helps my ankles in the mornings.

The standard recommendation is usually all of these 3 taken together - Glucosamine/MSM/Chondrotin

Throw in some Omega-3 and that should cover you :)

oh okay

when looking into this a while ago I didn't see enough evidence to suggest glucosamine and the other one was beneficial to joints

over omega / cod liver oil looked very promising

no harm in taking them all though I guess.

I believe this is because most people get enough 6 and 9 via diet, but few get enough 3.

Yeah basically what Crowort said, and taking omega3 on it's own instead of in cod liver oil allows you to take large doses - vitamin A in cod liver oil prevents this as it becomes toxic.

I'm not sure if I'm remembering this correctly, but I may have read that omega3 promotes far more of the good anti-inflammatory effects than 6 and 9.

Sorry to hijack thread just this is good info.

I need to look after my joints a bit more, being a postman I cover a lot of ground. Throw in Muay Thai, Yoga/Pilates and the gym my body does get pretty beat up over a week.

What would be the recommendations then, I see that Glucosamine but in various forms! What would it be from MP? MSM Glucosamine Chondroitin, they do that in 1 cap.

There is also MSM Powder - Methyl Sulfonyl Methane which reading the info sounds ideal for me.
"Athletes can also take MSM to overcome lactic acid build-up in muscle. Many users also report a positive effect on energy levels, making MSM a safe & natural fatigue fighter."

My legs constantly ache from all the walking and abuse they get through various forms of exercise.
