UK's own Dan "the outlaw" Hardy is set to fight Chris "lights out" Lytle.

UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle on August 14, 2011 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Any predictions?

i recon hardy will win by ko/tko hes got more speed than lytle and they both like to stand, i can see it going to the ground only if one of them gets hurt or low on energy, hardy has a lot more to lose because his contract in the ufc should have already been terminated due to losing 3 fights in a row

Seriously hope Hardy can win this one, really dont want to see him cut.

Hopefully it will stay standing and Hardy can win by KO/TKO

I'm just not sure Hardy is relevant any more. Cant see him getting enough important wins to be anything other than roster filler and I hate that, would much rather UFC were harsher and get rid of fighters quicker if they are not performing and letting fresh blood in.

I really dislike Hardy, all he does is moan that fighters won't stand with him. Well duh, it's MMA they fight you where they feel they will win.

He should go do K1 if he really can't be bothered to learn wrestling and jujitsu.

Lytle could finish him in the 1st if he takes him down and subs him, but I see him standing with him and hopefully tko'ing him anyway.

did you not see the gsp vs hardy fight?..... hardy wont tap to no one and i do agree that he needs to sort his ground game out (big time)

GSP should have broken his shoulder, it easily could have but is too much of a nice guy to do that.

after the fight tho gsp said he realised dan wasnt going to tap so he then admitted he did try breaking his shoulder when he had the armbar sunk in

I read somewhere that GSP's technique was out so the arm bar wasn't as effective as it could have been. Google brings up a couple of things related.

Hardy is tough in that respect but I don't understand why he fights in MMA with such poor TDD / ground game. You can't expect people with potentially less stand up skills to stand with you just because you suck on the ground!!

Hope he wins just because he is English however I won't lose any sleep if not as I doubt he will ever do anything significant again in which case he will just be used to fill the UK cards with something they think us English fans want to see...

England has no good mixed martial artists we have to catch up with the rest of the world.
Yep, I believe it's to do with the concentration on boxing, karate and other stand-up martial arts we've had in the past. We have had some great boxers and I know we have some of the best Muay Thai fighters in the world, but we're lacking the ground game that the Americans get from college wrestling, and from other ground disciplines. I'm quite pleased that my 8 year old nephew has just started Muay Thai lessons, but that they also include MMA style wrestling in certain classes :).

Back on topic.... I hope Dan gets a good win from this fight! :)

British fight fans will today learn how they can watch one of the favourite fighters in action in the latest UFC event.

UFC Live, featuring Dan Hardy vs Chris Lytle in the main event, may not be shown on ESPN, where the majority of live UFC events have been shown in the past, leaving fans wondering how they will be able to watch “The Outlaw” in action on Saturday night.

ESPN TV UK has released the following statement via their Facebook page.

“Over the past two years, ESPN has shown UFC main events & preliminary bouts for our viewers & fans of the sport. We have recently been informed that we are not able to continue to show some live UFC content on our channel.

“We & the UFC are working to find a solution to this as we understand your concerns. ESPN continues to televise UFC main events and provides coverage of UFC and mixed martial arts online at ESPN.co.uk & ESPN.com, & on TV via MMA Live.

“Thanks for your patience.”

The UFC have stated via their UFC_UK Twitter account that this weekend’s UFC Live event, featuring British fighter Dan Hardy in the main event, WILL be available to all fans, both as a live broadcast and via repeats. There has not, as of yet, been any confirmation of how fans can watch, or which channel(s) the event will be shown.

“Don’t worry guys, you’ll get to see the Hardy card live and on repeat on at least one platform.”

The UFC went on to explain, via the UFC_UK Twitter account, that they hoped to be able to release details to the fans today.

Fans will be hoping that, with the UFC’s current relationships with ESPN and Five, a TV deal can be struck, but with no news of such a deal being agreed, it’s looking increasingly likely the event may be shown via an internet stream only.

*** UPDATE ***
Additional statement from ESPN UK TV via their Facebook page:

“Over the past 2 years, ESPN has shown UFC main events & prelims. We have recently been informed that we are unable to continue to show some live UFC content. Due to this, Hardy v Lytle will be shown online at UFC.TV on Sun 14th at 2am. In the UK & Ireland ESPN continues to show UFC main events (Next up: UFC 134: Silva v Okami – Sat. Aug 27th @ 2am BST) & provides coverage of UFC & MMA online at ESPN.co.uk & ESPN.com, & on TV via MMA Live, UFC Countdown, UFC All Access & UFC Unleashed.”

FFS, instead of watching this on my lovely 50" plasma I have to watch it online. :(

Not happy especially seeing as it's a British fighter headlining the event that ESPN UK won't be showing it.
