As title... should I return it? I dont find laptop too hot to touch and seems cooler than any laptop Ive had before (sat gaming on my knee's)... its just Coretemp reporting these temps.

So you are reading the temparature of the CPU gorw ehile gaming... the laptop is cool to the touch even while on your knees, and you have no issues to speak of... and are asking if you should take it back?

Yes!

I dont want problems later on in the future. If Id built a desktop and it was this temp I'd reseat the heatsink etc. Not so easy with a "new" laptop... sure I could try. But Im not used to laptops... is this a normal temp for a laptop this class?

laptops are going to get hot when gaming, what are the temps in normal office applications?

if the laptop is not hot to touch (you have said it isn't) and it is not crashing or atifacting then it won't be overheating, the temp monitor could be over reading.

has this got the GT520m in it?

seems like reasonable temps for the i5 power & gaming with the 520m in, esp in such a small space (13" isnt it?)

The Core temp is on while playing - soon as I exit I can see the temp.... you trying to be smart ;)

No I wasnt meaning what you thought I meant, I was simply pointing out that the temperature is obviously going to be high when the system has just been gaming, and if it is cold to the touch, nothing is freezing or artifacting, then there is clearly no problem. Surely by now you know that CPU operating temps, especially in laptops, are high?

Yes its a high spec laptop in a very small case... One that im mighty impressed with so far.

I just expected lower... All my self buit PCs idle at about 30degs and hardly ever go above 50 degs. Its at 45 degs now just surfing at 800Mhz, silent with no fan on and feels only a bit walm to touch.

You're comparing a self-built, well-ventilated desktop... and a laptop for temps?

I admit Im not blessed with same intellegence and insite as you ;)

All I wanted to know if this temp was normal for for a 2011 laptop as Ive been out of the moble scene for a bit.

area512003 - Case is not that hot and only real bit of warmth comes out of the back vent...(which is directed upwards by the LCD screen.
