BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

bit off topic but during the BT Infinity process we had to change our number, and was told afterwards we could change it back (long story).

So we were given a new number, turns out it belonged to a Shopfitting company so we got loads of calls for them. After emails and phone calls to BT we were told it would be changed back to our original number, great we thought, until we checked the BT website and got an email saying we would get another new number and it ended in 666 !

Are BT the devil ?

So the saga continues.....

BT really do seem poor tbh. A phone number ending in 666, I'd run a mile lol.

Had a call from BT last night offering Infinity, kinda got me interested now as I'm a fair bit from the exchange and any sort of speed boost would be rather nice. Anyone here a long distance from the exchange and still getting a reasonable speed ?

I'd go with BT mate, you're bound to get a better speed tbh, if it's available that is :D

Well as mentioned BT rang me last night to try and get me to signup, and the website is quoting the speeds listed .... so I'm guessing it is available ? Is it a case of contacting BT and letting them take over the setup (ie. contacting my ISP) ?

Nice that it's available in your area Dirtyjester, nothing on the horizon here were i am. Though ballycastle, (6 miles from me), has had infinity for a while now.

Just placed my order to migrate from Be now. Surprisingly I've been given an installation date of the 4th of August. A week is pretty impressive I think.

I've been quoted speeds of 35 down and 7 up which will be decent enough but I've already got 50mbit cable and my ADSL syncs up at 20mbit ish anyway. Still, it'll be handy and I might even ditch the Virgin connection after.

You not considering ADSL24 Fibre? Thats who i'm with and its very good.

Yes mate they made me aware of this service but the prices are way more than BT. BT is around £28 for unlimited service at 40mb download 10mb upload. ADSL24 dont offer unlimited unless off peak ie. midnight - 8am midweek and all weekend, just don't fancy having to watch the ammount d/load again. What package you on and how you finding it ?
