Steve Hilton, Cameron's strategy guru has suggested that all maternity rights should be abolished. He has also proposed the abolition of all consumer rights as part of an initiative to inject life into Britain's sluggish economy (LINK).

Next week, he will hit upon the brilliant idea of disbanding the police force and legalising the sale of ANY form of weapon as a means of cutting costs, stimulating the defence industry and reducing population growth.

Following that, he will shut down the Fire Brigade and the entire NHS in order to encourage the sale of fire extinguishers and First Aid kits.

Mr Hilton also suggested to Mr Cameron that he simply ignore European labour regulations on temporary workers, to the alarm of the most senior civil servant in Downing Street.
“Steve asked why the PM had to obey the law,” said one Whitehall insider. “Jeremy [Heywood, Mr Cameron's permanent secretary] had to explain that if David Cameron breaks the law he could be put in prison.”

The source was very flimsy on the part about consumer rights, but if he suggested that, well, you can't really say it isn't incredibly daft!
 
I find it frustrating that Stockhausen often brings up interesting topics, but then butchers the OP with crappy tabloid type journalism. I then need to find other sources before I can get to any facts at all, let alone make an informed opinion. I wish stockhausen would just post non-sensationalist threads for once.

Also this doesn't sound too bad an idea:

According to a report in the Financial Times, Mr Hilton also recommended sacking hundreds of Government press offices and replacing them with a blog for each Whitehall department.

Thanks for that, the original link should have been (The Grauniad). However,the Torygraph one is much, much better. To summarise:

He sounds extremely right wing... Small government, low regulation, etc. He'll be kept in check by the rest of parliament. This is how things are supposed to work, yeah?

Apparently he just says these things to spark creative debate and to try and make people think out of the box (the guy in the article that is).

Some of his ideas are slightly mad/wacky so I hope the above is true :o
 
I read the article about this guy at FT. What really annoys me is, how the hell do these people get these jobs?

There are so many talented, well educated young people with solid experience that should/could/must be placed in such roles. So, how does a clown like that get so close to the PM, advising him with all these childish stupid retarded ideas? And I'm not even in that line of work so I can imagine how much it is ****ing off people who are after such jobs.

It's really shows how detached all of them are and that cronyism is festering and growing no matter what (yes, sweeping generalisation I know..). What kind of qualifications and track record does that imbecile have to get that job?
