*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

I just signed up to the new OcUK guild site, although I can't say I like it that much. I know someone has put time in to set it up and everything but I'm just not a fan of sites that use a ton of scripting, have annoying popups at the bottom right telling me someone has posted to a thread I subscribed to (it seems to auto-subscribe by default, and I've yet to find a way to stop that). Even the main logo doesn't load unless you enable scripts from 3rd party sites.

Yes I believe there is currently a bug where the toggle to not autosubscribe (in Preferences at the top of the forums page) doesnt always work. By default its set to not auto subscribe.

You know what they say, cant please everyone all of the time :D , as I said a few times during the course of its construction, anyone was free to set something up to be the ocuk MMO community site, but nobody seemed to want to do so hence this one moving from test site to live site :)

I’ve already made a guild on swtor, did this ages ago, when I first got the email.

Its Empire on a PVP server and of course EU.

I know it’s a 3 stage process.

Stage 1: create your guild
Stage 2: do you have enough people etc ( I guess they don’t want hundreds of guilds with only a couple of people in each)
Stage 3: conformation of faction/name/numbers and sever allocation

This is what it was a few months back, I’m sure it will change over time.

Just as an addendum to that, you can try turning off your growl settings etc. Click on the home icon on the personal bar (bottom right of the screen) then select settings off the left hand menu and there are a variety of personalised settings regarding pop up notifications and email notifications that you can enable/disable.

+1

Such a shame that this isn't going to be released until the time when i will actually have loads of work to do :(

Edit: From the official forums:

Team sizes sound good, 16 is a good number, with a healthy guild you can more than likely run two raid teams.

Flashpoints are 4 in a group if I’m not mistaken?

I like this idea of as reward bag. I hope they use it for flashpoints as well? Already it takes the whole ninja looting out of the equation, especially if they thinking of cross shard LFG .

LOTRO works like this doesn’t it? Not played it for ages so can’t remember?

So, does that mean its groups of 4, up to 4 groups making it 16 man flashpoints? Or have I read it wrong?

Really pleased that everyone gets a bag of loot. Was so sick of losing out on the rolls most of the time in WoW. Atleast this way its much fairer.

I liked the way Warhammer did it in public quests - there was a roll for a selection of bags of goodies, but the major damage dealers / healers got a bonus to their roll.

I don't think they ever quite got the healer contribution right, but the concept was good - if you stood there afk in the middle of the quest, you usually ended up with nothing.

If by public you mean Open, then no Bioware stated at E3 that thier will only be Closed Beta upto launch. The Beta Weekends are for Closed Beta testers and Pre-orders only (i.e. not open)

Beta weekends are not for pre orders....

Pre orders are for head start

beta weekends are for anybody(if you get chosen) who signs up on the website.

Flashpoints are like dungeons(there are 4 while you level up) and as far as I’m aware there are some heroic ones to when you reach lvl cap. I think these are all 4 man parties.

The bigger operations(raids) are the 8/16 man groups.

Got mine pre-ordered for £26, cheapest by around £6. not going to pay anymore than that for a subscription game.

I voted for my preference on the Community site but if it does not win then I will just go with whatever wins...guilds tend to be stronger and better that way.
