Will It Have Lion?

I suspect it will, FEEK bought a IMac which was delivered this week which had Lion on.

Also they are doing a free upgrade, I did this on my Mac Book Pro which I purchased 2 weeks ago.

It depends on if it's standard spec or not. I've just put a £100k order in at work, and the custom machines have come with Lion, standard machines have SL but with the free upgrade available. I guess as new stock arrives to replace the standard stuff it will have Lion on.

100K with of macs? That must have been an awesome sight to see delivered :D

There are various reports on MR of machines coming with or without Lion. As time goes on, the chances of getting Snow Leopard will be minimsed. Mine was a built-to-order iMac but the only differences from stock were the trackpad and a wired keyboard and I ordered on the 19th, delivered on the 25th.

They're still boxed up for now but they do look awesome sat there. It's not fun shifting them, data capturing and PAT testing them though lol. :P

The order was something along the lines of 40x 27" iMacs, 1x Mac Pro, 4x iPad2, 6x 17" MBP and Thunderbolt displays and a boat load of software too. :)

Can someone just explain to me (I'm traditionally a Windows / Linux guy), what's the big deal with Lion OS?

How exactly is it better?

It's just the new OS - there's lots of changes and improvements but the biggest (and most obvious) thing for me is the changes to Exposé and Spaces, pretty much merging them together, and using lots of gestures to control them all and to switch between the various full-screen apps.

I thought full-screen apps was a big meh when announced because a) it's not hard, and b) I actually liked that Mac apps don't tend to full screen, but they're nicely implemented with the swiping between them, and I like the way even when you full screen an app you effectively 'keep' your desktop and the app moves to its own space. Hard to explain.

I've only had a bit of a play with it so far at work (tragically can't afford the £21 til I get paid!), but while I was a little disappointed at first, the more I play with it the more I'm liking it.

I see... so in conclusion, not much of a difference then?

How did you get the Thunderbolt displays before Apple are shipping them? The status on the store has been "Dispatched 6-8 weeks" since they appeared.

Those haven't arrived yet, I was only listing the order. :) As you say, they're about 6 weeks away.
