Hi,

I posted in General Hardware recently about a suspected dying PSU after the PC kept losing power, however I have tried said PSU in my brother's PC, and it ran fine for over 3 hours in games, HD content, internet browsing etc.

I plugged the PSU back into my motherboard to see if the problem was maybe just 'one of those things', and the PC just would not power on. I tried it with a Jeantech 500w PSU a friend borrowed me for testing purposes, and again, no standby light on the motherboard, and no power.

I'm guessing this means my motherboard is dead? It was only bought in early December.

Has anyone had any experience with MSI's warranty procedure recently? As I understand it, the board will have to go back to Overclockers before going back to MSI, which will mean weeks of downtime. Does anyone think there's a chance Overclockers would be willing to give me a credit note towards something else? I can't be without my PC for weeks as I rely on it for all my entertainment, as well as some work stuff.

Thanks for reading :)

our RMA terms with OcUK dictate that they will receive a replacement within an absolute maximum of 14 days turnaround including transport both ways although this is typically less than a week. However this does not take into account OcUK's testing/processing time.

Good stuff. Thanks.

It shouldn't take them too long to plug it in and see that it's not working so... :D

Out of curiosity, is the MSI warranty centre in Stoke? I live about 30 minutes from it if that's the case.

Sometimes it can take several days as you have to join the queue for testing. It depends how busy they are.

OcUK are based outside of Newcastle under Lyme which is where you'll have to take the motherboard for testing. Your replacement motherboard will also be sent there.
