Hey everyone

So for the past week i've been discussing on here the best items to get for my build. I've really appreciated everyones help and taken all your advice onboard.

This is my final basket. I'd just like to check i've picked out some good gear and you all recommend it before I buy tomorrow. I also would like to know, if at checkout tomorrow morning at around 7 i select collect from store, would the items be ready by 5:15pm? As i'm working 8 till 5pm but only work/live 15 min walk from OCuK at 4 Axis - Millennium Way - High Carr Business Park.

My basket:

Asus P8Z68-V Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) - £129.98
OCZ Vertex 3 60GB 2.5" SATA-3 - £128.99

For best airflow you want it either mounted as above, firing backwards or firing from bottom to top.

No graphics card? or have you got one waiting.

Got one waiting. It is an upgrade rather than a new build. The CPU is to replace my Athlon X2 6000+

The card i'm using is an ATi Radeon 5870(purchased recently to replace an 8800GTX)

I've got an X-fi platinum champion soundcard, PCI

700W modular PSU, which according to its box has 2x 4-pins for 8Pin/EPS CPU's, so should be fine.

Got a 1TB Caviar black sata3 drive(currently running as sata2 but that board has 2 or 3 Sata3 sockets i beleive) for my files

Got a 500GB drive which i use for my music and movies etc

Replacing my DVD drive as my current one is IDE so no socket on new mobo.

Got a case already which is quite a large case with 120mm fan to rear(hence the CPU cooler hopefully going to be okay for the RAM if i fit it facing the back of the case as per stulid) and a large 180mm(i think) at the front. I'm hoping to make the machine quite cool, so I can slow the fans down to make it quieter to make up for the noisy graphics card

I've changed it to the XMS3 as its on offer, also changed the CPU to the OEM as won't need the fan, total cost now is:

£549.91

So not a bad lil saving :)

And apparently there will be no performance difference between those memory kits from what ive been told on another thread

But thats Geil value ram, same height as XMS3, the Ripjaw he was looking at I wouldnt fancy trying.

Also the picture, tells a slight lie, the fan casing is thinner at the ends, so it looks like there is more room than avalible.

I think its best to go for the XMS3, to be sure. I know Corsair Vengeance wouldn't fit, but I originally hoped the smaller heatsinks of the Ripsaw may do, but i'm not going to risk it

Also, in regards to my question about collecting the items from OCuK, does anyone know how long it'd take?

Save yourself £6 and get the Kingston Genesis Grey instead. It can easily be clocked to run a CAS latency of 8 and has a lower profile and has a lower return rate than the G.SKILL. Unless you are in love with the G.SKILL get the Kingston!

EDIT: Ah just seen you have changed to XMS3

Also as soon as your order is placed you can come instore and collect your items. After payment is processed your items are picked and put in the collection area ready for when you pick them up!

Great! :D Well i see your at the OCuK, I work on Parkhouse Industrial Est just up the A34 from you, so will collect tomorrow between5 and 5:30 :D

I've placed my order this morning :) I went for the XM3 memory to ensure it fits with the cooler.

Order status is "Printed in our warehouse" so i'm presuming it is all being picked :) Look forward to picking up the goods when i finish work at 5

Thank you everyone for your advice! :D
