water cooling really that useful?

It depends, if your after quietness and big cooling capacity then yes it's very worthwhile. Also the aesthetic appeals to many and building a loop is a lot of fun. What's your current spec?

You'll never get cooling as good as watercooling on air, And if you have enough quite rads and fans you can have near silent PC even while gaming/heavy load.

Ofcourse the fun is building your own kit and making your system nice, I love modding with my dremel so watercooling is a nice thing for me :).

What case are you using and what budget do you have? Custom watercooling isnt a cheap option unless you can source it all second hand.

The other main thing is gpu silence. Even if you have 20 radiator fans, on a fan controller they will be whisper quiet. One single air-cooled gpu fan goes mental soon as you load it up.

Yea i don't miss that full load gpu noise :P

Depends on the ambient surely, you can never get below ambient with just water. And if you measure it in the winter or in an airconditioned room then your temps are going to be different to anyone elses.

You can get some decent aftermarket air GPU solutions though. My 88GT is silent all the time. It's got an Accelero S1 on there with the turbo module. Even without the turbo module (two small fans) it can stil get away with cooling it passively and not go above 60-70*C. With the Turbo module it never goes above 50*C and my radiator fans are louder (1650 Yates) despite being geographically further away from my ears.

EDIT: Forgot to mention all the temps said here are load.

Look like you could possibly get a 360mm there doesn't it?

Yes, You can but you need to really cut a lot of the top of the roof away, Personally i didn't bother because i'm quite small and i couldn't really lift the case around by myself, And my husband is away working, So i decided just to go 240mm top 120x60 in the back, And i'll go for 200mm rad on the front all exhausts then i'll be modding the side window a lot and adding a nice clear 200mm fan as a intake. :)

Just waiting for my nails to repair :(
