Hi guys,

I'm well and truly bored with my iPad2, I can do more on my Galaxy S2 phone, it's more interesting, and works better etc!

So, was thinking of getting an Android tab. Either the Galaxy Tab 10.1, because I already have a Galaxy S2, or an Asus eee Transformer, when the 3G one is out.

Would really appreciate your thoughts!

Thanks,

Mal

Gal Tab10.1 is nice, but ASUS Transformer is very nice, keyboard dock for laptop capabilities (word processing/browsing the web) also the fact that it is cheaper than the Gal Tab10.1, and seems to be the most popular android tablet globally.

Why are you bored of it? What can you do an an android tab?
IMO if you are bored of iPad, then youll be bored of any tablet.

Other thAn a bit of tweakying and using USB, I don't see what an android adds to any functionality.

Bored of iPad2? Wow. Don't even think that is possible.

All Android tablets suck balls so good luck with that one! :)

You only have one option, the 10.1. The rest are all bricks. It's lighter, sleeker, thinner, PLS screen, and great build quality. In fact it's the Rolls-Royce of Honeycomb tablets. Oh and you can hold it with one hand and not strain your wrist. This is the only tablet that is on par with the iPad. :)

I just don't get tablets. If you have an SGS2 or pretty much any current phone, which are like mini tablets really, why not just get a laptop, you can do more on it.

Wait until the hardware race heats up properly (and the software matures a little) Tegra 2 just isn't powerful enough, the new Archos tablets are much quicker but much cheaper (can play high profile 1080p, much better flash etc) A 2ghz quad in a galaxy tab type chassis shouldn't be far off.

How about the other tablets if you want to try something new, like the playbook?

And suggest the RIM Playbook? The only selling point that they seem to repeat incessantly is that they do flash support...

I have used all of your current list and my current feelings are... I feel happy using a Transformer and Galaxy 10.1 and I feel they are both roughly comparable to each other - the flyer is a different form factor and one I felt my phone covered - the playbook virtually requires a BB to be of any decent use and while it's OK it's nothing special.

I'm with Sarge on this one - wait for round 2 (if you can ;) ) or at least until oct/nov when the xmas designs come out

That's all they are, a fad. An oversized ipod touch. To me those things are next to pointless if you already have a good phone and a desktop pc or a laptop. They're big and clumsy, easily dropped and damaged, can't pocket them, limited in what they can do, and for the money you can buy a laptop if you don't already have one.

I absolutely disagree that they are a fad. I know many people who really only browse/email that have replaced their computers with iPads. :)

Fair enough I suppose for people that aren't interested in computers. But you can do emails and browsing on phones perfectly well, and no need to lug them about, they go in your pocket. For me, if I want to do things like photoshop, gaming, movie recording, movie editing, I certainly wouldn't want to faff around on a touch screen for all those, I prefer mouse and keyboard. Desktop at home, and my mini tablet the SGS2 while out and about. ;)

My girlfriend's thinking of getting a Transformer to replace her aging netbook. All she does is word processing, web browsing and iPlayer etc so she has no need to replace it with another laptop. Also from the word aspect of things then the Transformer's great because of the keyboard dock.

Although I personally could never replace my laptop with a tablet, many people can. She's also training to be a midwife so having a tablet will be great for when she's out on community and in the hospital as she'll be able to look up all her patient's notes etc.

There is still a huge tablet market for people that just browse/email/look at pictures, etc.

Obviously for the things you've described they are fairly useless. They are also extremely good for travelling like on the train, on flights and so on. Also, just for general sofa browsing, they are much nicer to use than phones.
