PORN! Come and see my 7.5" long beast!!!

My list goes something like this:

New PC (buying today hopefully)
New monitor
85 1.8
Another 5D2 (or 5D3 whenever it comes)
70-200 2.8 (with IS if I can afford it)

Oddly this is exactly what I was doing. I did the PC thing a few months ago (just need gfx upgrade from x260 now). Just bought 27" iiyama monitor which is lovely :) I have to wait for the 5DmkIII and will look at a combo with the 70-200. I've been tempted to buy the 135l this week actually instead of a tripod but I don't think I'll use it enough on the 60D :(

I want a TS lens or a 50L next

Oh yeah?

To be honest I would go the fake T/S effect as using these lenses is incredibly difficult and takes a lot of fun out of the snap. Although if it is for video then yes deffo.

I mean get one by all means but its devishly hard to handle and of course completely manual. I dunno how the new L versions are. Also I find this to be a no go on a cropped body so they do become full frame esp for the 45mm.

Scary - I have an 85 1.8 that I'm interested in getting rid of. E-mail in trust if you're interested.

Bad timing unfortunately, today I have put down a deposit and first month rent on a new house, and bought a new PC, otherwise I definitely would have been interested :(

I would advise you shouldn't get into it for the money, do it because you love it.

Although yuo are right, my weddings have paid for all my gear, gear that I can only dream of having 2 years ago.

70-200 is a waste of money for the way I shoot things, I have one (Sigma) and it's not even in my case! (not that it fits...I could do with a Peli case for just the lenses lol)

I loved the weddings I did with Jake, but the ones I've done on my own I find I don't look forward to them. The only thing that drives me is the extra cash.I wouldn't do it for free, or for less than I charge now.

Ideally I like the 45 TS but not until it is updated to L status.

We'll see, it's a lot of money for some "experimental shots" i got in my head that I want to make reality lol

Why didn't you look forward to the ones you shot alone? I always do, I love the capture the smiles, the crying, the dancing. Every minute I am looking for the next portfolio shot. Obviously I wouldn't do it for free and the money is nice (I charge what I think I am worth), but money isn't the incentive, more so as I do have a 9-5 job.

When I went to Scotland to shoot MK's wedding, my thinking was.

"I AM GOING TO SCOTLAND TO SHOOT A WEDDING!!! YEAHHHHHH!"

not

"oh god, I got to take 3 days off work and all the way to Scotland to shoot a wedding?"

Same as last week, I took a day's holiday from work so I can shoot the wedding in Yorkshire. I look forward to them.

I imagine it's down to nerves, especially if you're new to running it yourself. If I found myself in the position where I could make money from a hobby I'm really enjoying at the moment, but suddenly dreaded doing it, I'd have to have a good think about what I wanted from photography.

As it is, I'm enjoying it. I wouldn't mind tagging along with a photographer just to experience the day from the photographers side of things. I was tempted to take my camera to Carden park for my cousins wedding a while ago, but I enjoyed the day instead. I'm off work for the bank holiday week in August if you want to drag me along Ray :D

I still do get a little nervous but I also still look forward to them :)

A little nerve is good, stops one being complacent, just don't panic! Lol

I was following the thread on TP with poor little Jake trying to get his deposit down. The evils in me wanted to buy it, but being skint ruined that :D

Nice purchase Jake, enjoy :)

lol cheers.

I found that thread quite funny to be perfectly honest.

For those that don't know, I replied within about an hour of it going up for sale, offering a £200 deposit the rest within 2 weeks. He said no he wanted a straight sale. Fair enough.

Throughout the week he had several offers of people offering part-ex, trades, lower amounts etc.

Then it got to a point where I said 'C'mon dude, £200 right now, the rest by monday'

Well the rest is history :)

Sssh :p

Unfortunately, like the problem Nick faces in day to day life it just isn't deep enough.

When the 70-200 goes in it tomorrow night I'll post a pic then, tight! :D
