Why did you study sports science?

The prestige of the place of study really helps with job applications.
I must say though, you may be up **** creek without a paddle with a degree in sports science, no matter where it was studied.
You may have to seriously consider ditching the 'sports science' career completely and take another route.

And lol at people who think Sport Science is a doss degree. Do people not realise that you don't actually play any sport when you do it?

depends on the uni though, some courses are much more involved than others. i imagine at edinburgh it is a decent course unlike from an ex college / new uni
I don't think anyone said it was a doss, but it's a useless degree.
If you want to become a sport biomechanist for example you'd need a degree in sport science. It would be much hard to get onto a masters or PhD in a sporting biomechanics area if you just did human biology. Same with sport psychology. It's far from useless if you know what you want to do with it.

Of course I realise that, I spent 3 years in halls at Loughborough University.
I knew many people who did Sports Science - They really did not do a lot of work. They need really high grades to get in, due to the demand, not the content.
Many first years spoke of their disappointment of the course as it was not that challenging.
Those who think Sports Science is hard have absolutely no idea of what hard work is. Anyone who quotes this to say 'that is not fair I did it and it was really hard' just gives my point the supporting evidence.
I was at uni 5 years, so people I started with who did Sports Science left after 3rd year as they did 3 years straight. I beg to differ as none of them had work lined up when they left, some got work on crap pay (circa £7 an hour) after a few months and many ditched the sports idea completely.

Alright, I accept that there could be valid reasons for it, but do you really think that the majority of graduates go into a career from something they learnt from sport science? I doubt it, I am sure the figures would support me if I could find any.
Just have a look at this and compare it to popular traditional subjects like maths. You can see that there is a massive difference in job prospects between traditional subjects and Sport science, sport science and other degrees do have valid reasons to be mad at.

I find Sport Science a lot more harder than Chemistry...

The reason I bang on about Loughborough is most (if not all) course comparisons between Universities say Loughborough is the best for it.
Still doesn't make it of any use to the real world though.
As for a Masters in Sports Science, well an analogy of this is to take a dump on the table (representing the degree) and roll it in glitter (the glitter is the Msc). From afar it looks prettier, but when you get up close, it is still a poo.

Double post.
I done Sports Science for fun not because Im dumb lol.
I got 3 A's and 2 B's at higher.
A- Physics, Maths, Accounts
B- English, PE
I initially studied physics and got 1's but I found it so boring I switched to sports science.
I done it for fun not for career. I mean sure physics would seem better but I wouldn't wanna do no boring physics job anyway.
Ideally looking back I should've done something involving computers. that's the way the world is going and where money is.
I also bought some CompTAII ???? books. to learn PC repairs etc.. and was going to do a course so I could do PC repairs.
What do you think off this?
When My pc was messed up they were all charging 50-60 quid for 30-60mins to repair it. THats good money.

Sports Science was real easy. My 1st year doing physics and maths had a higher workload than any year of sports science I also switched to Zoology/biology for 2nd year initially before Sports Science and that was even crazier. I was in labs/class 9-5 5 days a week.
Sports Science was pretty much a doddle for me at least but i would not say it was total dumb ass stuff and it involved no physical work at all. Some lab work but no physical it was all theory mainly.
Biomechanics at 4th year sports science was using easier physics/maths than what I was doing in 1st year physics.
Sports Psychology at 4th year was as much psychology as 1st year psychology which I done as a side course.
Nutrition was simple. I studied for fun for my bulking and learned as much as in course if not more just at my leisure.
However, we still had to do many assignments and 20,000 word thesis so it wasnt a complete doddle but I know for a fact that it woudlve been much easier than physics nad biology etc...

Compboyo: Physics may not be as fun but it is a degree that requires mathematical and analytical skills that employers would be looking for. It would show that you are an individual who works hard and is competent.
Well you just said it yourself, you did it for fun. Saying you got 1st class grades in Physics then quitting for Sports Science is criminal.

Well physics was easy as well. But then again im pretty smart. I was awarded awards at school for I achieved the highest grades in maths+physics in the whole of Scotland.
I then achieved the highest marks in physics and engineering maths in the 1st half of the course at Edinburgh Uni. However I became so bored with it that in the 2nd half of the course I got like 2s and 3s..or b's and c's. I had already quit mentally.

I can post scans off my certificates if you dont believe me lol its not a problem (well connecting my scanner is a prob usually as its pos lol but thats all)
