Does anyone have any experience/recommendations for staying overnight or two in/near Hereford... maybe a decent B&B... or guest house. Something with a bit of character, rather than a generic crap-o-matic hotel type thing?

What are you doing here? and how close do you need to be in town?
Its not that big a place, can get a taxi from north (say 6th Form College) to South side across the River Wye to Belmont (where Tesco is) for under £7.

There is a nice B&B on the Ross Road, unsure of it's name now, opposite the ambulance station, Ray help me out here!

Bit ashamed that I couldn't think of a B&B for you though.. there's always the Green Dragon hotel near the Cathedral. God knows what its like these days though.
Have a drink for me in the Spead Eagle and another in The Barrels beergarden though
