Hello Guys.

I am looking for anyone that can recommend me a desent NVIDIA Graphics Card upgrade from a NVIDIA GTX 480.

The card has to obviously be faster in gaming than the card I have in my sig, is from a good company, a desent
overclocker, pretty quiet, runs cool, has a HDMI port and preferably, supports HD sound through HDMI.

Price Range: about 3 hundred and something pounds and no more than £400.

Thanks you for your suggestions and recommendations.

Sylver123.

Why tbh, you've already got an extremely fast card. A GTX 580 would be a slight step up if not sideways... Stick with your 480 until the next gen comes out at the end of the year or go SLI.

The main reason why I am having to buy a new card is because I have broke my HDMI port on the back of the card I have and I need the
HDMI port because I frequently connect my card to my HD TV to watch HD movies.

RMA your card? Chances are the company will charge a fee for the repair but it will probably be the cheapest option.

If you decide to buy a new card, then I suggest you get a 580 :)

The GTX570 would be pretty much identical to the 480 performance wise, but uses less power, runs cooler, and is quieter (see here for a comparison). If replacing it is a must, and you're determined to stick with nvidia, then the 570 would be a good choice. The step up in price to the 580 is far bigger than the step-up in performance. The real performance boost will come towards the end of the year with the 28nm cards.

Maybe get another GTX480, and send this one for RMA? When it's repaired you get SLI working :)

However you'll need to make sure you have a reasonable PCIE spacing on the motherboard for best airflow. Also you'll need a PSU spec'ed for at least 750W. (850W recommended)

Getting a GTX570 is a bad idea - it's not cheap, but comes with less vram. I'd say waiting for the 28nm cards by the end of this year is a good option.

It doesnt matter if your HDMI port is broken on this card, just buy another to SLI instead of side stepping, you can use the HDMI port of the second card!

Which 580 would you recommend in my price range?

I'll try and sell my GTX 480 on the bay to get some money back and explain
the card is working fine and is still under warranty but HDMI port is broken.

Did you see my post mate? Just SLI another 480 and use the HDMI port from that.
