Hi

I know this has been asked a few times lately but that may be based on OC's prices which at the moment are a bit steep.

This week planning on upgrading from an MSI GTX 460 Cyclone.

1) Do I go for a Geforce 560 TI ? The Asus one I can get for £190 I can then overclock it.
2) Do I go for the Palit 560 Ti 2gb for £210 for the extra VRAM.
3) Or I could go for the Palit 560 TI 1gb OC version 900mhz.

or do I go the extra £50 for the KFA2 570 with the strange fan assembly or £254 for the "own choice branded" 570 ?

My budget is £180 (I can get a Zotac 560 for that) upto £250 for the cheapest of the 570's

I've decided against an OC 480 due to the heat it chucks out and power usage plus the number of Gigabyte ones that seem to be returned.

None of them, either a 480, which can be had at £200 with ocuk's deals or a 6950 that you can unlock to a 6970, the 6950 is on par withthe 560ti but an unlocked 6950 is a bit faster than a 480, so personally i'd get a 6950 if i was you and if it would fot in you case ... (its 11"'s long) :o

None of them :), this is the one you want:

this is imo a much better card than a standard 480, 570, 6950, 6970 and all for just £209, that's if you don't game any higher than 1920x1200 and don't go by any epeen benchmarks ;), the standard 480 with more vram only just beats it with a few more fps in a few games, likewise for the 6970 and 570, the 570 is pretty much very similar performance, but costs like £60-80 more.

vram makes no difference at 1920x1200 or lower:

here are some reviews of this superb 560:

And there is another excellent review by a very good review site beginning with H, will be on first page of google results.

And here is a comparison of some of the 560s, again the SOC GB comes out on top IMO:

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...tx-560-ti-roundup-asus-evga-gigabyte-msi.html

If I had to choose out of a 480 (including the SOC and SE models), 570, 6950 and 6970, this GB 560 SOC would be my first choice, it is just a much better card overall IMO, very cool and extremely quiet running even at load, small power consumption, small in size, slightly better performance than a standard 570 in more than just a few games for a much cheaper price than the 570s, 6970s and the 480s+6950s[unless you unlock the 6950] (considering the price to performance ratio).

And when games need more GPU power, which won't be for a good few years, just simply get another one of these 560s (for an even lower price) and sli them (if you have a motherboard and PSU that supports SLI).

+1 for the Gigabyte SOC 560, and also a personal vote for the 2gb Gainward 560 (res depending). I was weighing up these only days ago, though in my case I finally went for the 480 SOC (fingers crossed). I wouldn't have gone for one if the power draw was the same as the reference model. Having come from a 4870X2 I wanted something at least a bit less juicy and preferably a step up.

The GTX 560 SOC is not a "much better card" than a 480 or a 570. They are almost equal to a 480/570.

On the other hand, for £10 more you get a GTX 480 SOC which is almost equal to a GTX 580. That's hands down the best buy around as long as you got enough PSU power.

I said "they are just the much better card overall IMO".

I am not just talking about pure performance, I am also talking about noise, heat and power consumption etc. as these factors are just as important to me and others as much as how the cards performs in games and for some people benchmarks.

The standard 480 only just beats the soc 560 in like 1-3 games by a few fps, where as the 560 soc beats the 480 in more than a few games by quite a few fps, likewise with a standard 570, however it beats the 560 in more games than the 480 does and the 560 only just beats the 570 by a few fps in some games.

Yes that is without a doubt the best buy for performance to price ratio, however it runs very hot, granted the card is cooler than the standard 480, but due to that cooler it dumps the heat inside the case instead of extracting the heat (not a problem though if the op has a good case with good air cooling), plus it also consumes a lot of power for a single gpu, and with the soc card, people are having problems with the them, it has been reported many times on this forum and other forums, not just in benchmarks but also in some games as well.

I guess whether they're better overall is subjective. I am almost inclined to agree that the 560 is better... In fact, I'll grant you that it's better than the Asus GTX 480 and probably even better than the SE. but the SOC, I am not quite so sure. There is certainly a lot of muscle behind taht 480 SOC. Just as the 560 matches a 570 in benches the 480 matches a 580.

As for the problems, wasn't that the lasst batch? Hasn't that problem disappeared after they got a new batch or something? I could be wrong. Certainly with the summer the heat issue stands and is something to consider when deciding.

But SRSLY!!! GTX 580 POWER for £219.99!!!!!

Exactly, providing you've got a quality PSU and decent case airflow you'd be mad not to buy the 480 SOC.
There is an even better deal to be had though, the KFA2 GTX 480 LTD OC ANARCHY for £192.58 Inc VAT.
Obviously I can't link to competitor tho ;)

I wasn't comparing the soc 560 to a 480 soc in terms of performance in games, only the standard one I.e. the asus one. As the soc 480 is in 580 territory but for a lot less money, that's if your one of the lucky ones to get a working card.

As far as I know, GB are wanting to get rid of their last 480s (or just the faulty cards :p), hence the price of their cards at the minute, or/and there just overclocked to much. I am not aware of any new batches.

just seen this on their website plus I would get free delivery. Hmmmm..

This or the 560.

I wouldn't get a 560 at it's current price. If they lopped off another 30 quid it'd be a good deal, but considering that the 6950/480 are better performers, have more graphics ram (I know the debate is ongoing) and also overclock/unlock very well, the card seems out of it's depth at this price point.

If you have the psu and airflow for it, get the Gigabyte 480 that's on 'this week only' deal for £220. If you don't want the added heat/power draw of the 480, get the 6950 instead. Just make sure you don't get a reference 480 :)

just read that you don't want a 480. In that case, go for a 6950 2gb. Faster than the 560, easily unlockable to a 6970 and more ram at the same price. Go for it!

560Ti would be fine but having just gone from that to a 570 I would say get a 570.

I know, I know it's alpha; on BF3 with the 560Ti I had to put it medium for decent average frames but with the 570 I can put it on high and it's even fine with smoke too.

I'm sure the OP has been sitting around waiting for 3 months for that advice.
