something like this...

the phenom ii can unlock and you have a 5850 in there, a smaller screen but will be ok as you can run games on max settings due to the lower screen res.

Edit: i have the bequiet in my main rig, its solid as a rock and with good cable management it doesnt matter about the unbraided cables at all.

oh, tiny screen....

and youd need a cooler to keep an unlock phenom cool, and does that mobo even supposrt core unlocking?

id go for stulids latest spec, except change the mobo for the MSI H67 thats £60, but its currently out of stock :D

yeh it supports core unlocking, it is an option as dual core with gaming and browsing is fine, im sure a cooler could be bought at a later date. heres a revised spec, ive changed it up loads to lower spec but put a really sexy case in, not sure if you misses will like it but just thinking of the aesthetics

Very small screen, unlocking cores is not at all guaranteed, let alone both cores unlocking and working ok.

Then unlock it into what? Still a lot slower than a i3 2100.

Then there is the completely rubbish asgard case.

Unbelievable, £109 on a case in a £450'ish budget build:rolleyes:

i built a system into the asgard case and havent heard it vibrating with a gtx 465 in there, i dont think its a bad case at all especially at the price point, i understand that an i3 is much much faster than most phenoms dual, quad etc but im just thinking are you going for too much processing power and not as much gpu? op can go for whatever her wants to get, but i think if you saved a little on the cpu/mobo then a better gpu can be had.

It depends on what games too i guess, if you come and tell me she plays farmville then coozie go for stulids.

i'll stick with what we've concluded, seems a solid spec and good bang-for-buck!

also stulid you got it spot on, though in my basket its £476 (free shipping etc).

thanks for the help much appreciated!

there we go, it's all right, right?

bugger. lol cheers!

by the way, do you know if it's possible to remove facia's from dvd drives? i have around 3 with cream/white that would be suitable apart from the colour! nothing a little sand and respray wouldn't fix!

The actual tray fascia should either slide upwards or downwards (there maybe a tiny pin hole to push something in to release the tray), the surrounding fascia with the clear plastic for the the LED will have a few small tabs around the metal case to gently press inwards and the fascia will come away from the body.

Are they SATA?
