I in the mood to read some heart warming stories.

What's the kindest thing a stranger ever did for you?

and

Whats the kindest thing you've done for a stranger?

Was in Ilkley last week to shoot a wedding. I been told that the hotel where i was staying at was walking distance away from the train station and looking on Google Maps it says 0.3 miles...I thought, i'll walk it.

Unknown to me, its all up hill. So, pulling 2 suitcases I was struggling, both the weight (one being my camera gear and it weights 25kg+) and the other my clothes and bits for the weekend.

I was trying my best but the suitcase handle for the clothes was a bit short and every few steps my heel was kicking it resulting it turn 180 degrees round. This happens literally every 10m or something!

Cue a very kind man offered to help me drag one all the way up to the hotel. (i did give him the one with the clothes in...) I thought it was really kind, it would never happen in London!

and kindest thing?

erm, help blind man cross the road a few times.

Found a purse in my dad's take away, but no ID with address except 1 bus pass and £30 on so I tracked them her on Facebook and sent her a message.

Both of these happened when I was living in America.

I was driving through Texas in the dead of night and then SSSSSSSSSSSSS.....got a flat tire. So I pull over. Got all the gear out and with flashlight in mouth I was mounting the spare tire when a car whizzes past on the road. And then all is quiet again. Just me, the Nissan and a starry sky. But then I notice red lights....the car that just flashed past has stopped...it does a U-turn and comes back. Stops in front of me. A business man gets out. In a suit, takes off the jacket, rolls up his sleeves (Rolex and all) and says "Hey buddy you need a hand?" I was so shocked I was all "Thank you for stopping, but Im almost done! Youre very kind to ask!" He insisted on helping but I said it was all good so he reluctantly drove off.

This happened in California while waiting for the BART (BART=Bay Area Rapid Transit, its their high-speed train system linking local destinations in the San Francisco bay area). Anyways Im standing there waiting for a train on the platform. There this girl waiting as well, she was standing about 20 meters or so away. Down the stairs comes the biggest most badass Native American dude I have seen- looked about 45yrs old, massive biceps. Basically a walking tank. Think Billy from Predator...X 10. 6ft 3" at least. He walks up to this girl (who was about 24 or so) and opens a briefcase. Inside its full of cheapo sunglasses and he fishes one out and shoves it in her face "You wanna buy?! This stuff is REAL good!" And he walks right up to her. Shes terrified and walks backwards but hes right in her face waving his cheap sunglasses in her face. She was all "Im s..ss...sorry I dont wa...wanna buy any...please...?"

But he just kept walkin...and then shes up against the wall and hes still in her face. Decision time. I look around ..theres no one else. I take a deep breath turn around and walk torwards this guy and holler "Get the HELL away from her or Im callin the cops on you RIGHT now!" I tell the girl "Walk away..go find a phone" She walks...but doesnt leave...Big guy is now right up against me. By this time Im shaking with fear...this guy could kill me with one punch after all. But again I say "Step away Im callin the cops" He gives me a dagger stare....and backs off.

The train arrives and he runs up the stairs to the exit. I stood there in a bit of a daze...and then the girl comes up to me. She still had tears in her eyes but she said to me "Thank you" and got on the train and off it went.

I did call the cops. They arrived within 2 mins or less, Glocks and all. Apparently this guy was a well known troublemaker. "Ahh yes the big Indian guy....yeah" They asked if I wanted to pursue things but I said no it was ok and got on the next train. The cops said they would have a word with him anyways.

I still look back on the incident and still shiver...it could have turned out so different. I was like a mouse facing off an elephant. But I'll never forget the heartfelt "thank you" of that girl.

Hmm, was given a large £15 bouquet of flowers whilst I was a student working at asda for our department meeting targets.

I didn't really see much need for the flowers in my skanky student room so I said to myself I'd give them to the first person who was nice towards me.

A middleaged lady on the bus smiled at me and I gave her the flowers before she got off the bus.

She was quite taken aback and gave me a kiss on the cheek when she went to get off the bus.

:)

Although one should note this service is much, much less "rapid" than you would expect. (Just in case you end up in the Bay)

Also, I find it fascinating how much gear 'Merican cops lug about, guns and all. You see the bobby in England and theres nout but some cuffs and a truncheon.

Absolutely nothing, seriously. I'm 26 and not once has a stranger helped me with something :/

Spent around an hour in our local supermarket last week after I posted a parcel off to a member here, giving this old woman some advice on what to look for in her first laptop. The people working on the technology desk thing in the store just read the labels to her, which is pretty useless when she didn't understand what any of it meant.

She couldn't thank me enough and even offered to pay me but I didn't accept and just left with a smile on my face :D

Years ago I was walking home from school when some of my fellow year mates fancied having a fight with me, now I only lived about 1500 yards away from the school but they waited by the gates for me. For no reason whatsoever they started on me, after being surrounded by them some woman walked out of her house screaming at them but they just told her to 'eff off'. So they started the beating and then all I heard was one of them shouting, she had gone in the house and filled a bucket with water and fairy washing up liquid and poured it over them all. They soon dispersed, I thanked the woman and she said it was no problem.

Found a wallet with a bit of dosh and a iPhone in the back of a bus once. I opened the wallet to find a business card with the mans address on it, it was on my route so I got off and walked about half a mile to this guys house and returned it to him whilst he was on the phone with the bank cancelling his cards. He gave me £20 and a thank you.

I wasn't complaining!

A certain Walter Anderson ( ;) ) gave me a ton of hardware to upgrade my PC with, and delivered it personally - good man.

Not punched someone in the face after they stole a girl that was almost within my grasp? :p

Nah, really i'm not sure - i tend not to remember stuff like that, just do it them move on. I remember being out with a few mates and helping a lorry driver out who was stuck in the snow.
