DETROIT — A New York auto shop owner who survived 18 hours without a life jacket in Lake Huron after his small, two-seat Cessna crashed within sight of the Michigan shoreline said Thursday that it was his desire to stay alive that pushed him to swim and tread water as 10-foot waves buffeted his body.

Do any of you think you could have kept going for 18 hours?

I can swim okay, but I think I probably would have drowned after a couple of hours

I never understood the veruca sock things. Is the infection that bad that if the veruca enters the water it can carry across and give you a veruca? I would have thought it has nothing on the people that just take a **** in there.

EDIT: Just so we are understood I'm talking taking a pee not a poo

In Wales it wouldn't surprise me if someone took a dump in the pool tbh.

Someone did in the olympic pool and it got closed for the day cause they said they had to wait for all of the water to be flitered through again. It was the slides side, not the actual olympic side though :p

There are ways to stay afloat without constantly swimming.

18 hours is an impressive length of time though. Takes a strong mind to stay focused for that long.

10 foot waves, in a lake? Never heard of that before, it would be natural instinct to stay alive, you could tread water for abit, then go on your back, but 18hours is a long time

You live in Barry, right? I wouldn't swim in the water there either. :p

That happened when I went to Wrexham swimming baths, I don't go there anymore!

Good God... :D

I was swimming in an outdoor pool once and saw a hair bobble at the bottom. I swam down to get it and upon grasping it my hand went through it.....I had just grasped a soft poo that someone had kindly left there. :(

Pool evacuated and everyone showering thoroughly.

Ahhhh man. What did people think when they saw you with a brown hand? Did you get banned from the pool? Do children point at you and tell their friends that you're the.... poo clencher?
