[New Car] The day you thought wouldn't arrive...

Lovely engine, shame about the spec, no nav and xenons, surely this will massively hit your residuals. Is the leather really that pink or is it much like NickXXs M3 and doesn't actually look awful in person?

He claims he has a 'guaranteed tradein price' from the dealer for 3 years time of £18k. He doesnt seem to realise all this means is they'll offer him £18k off the LIST price of something else :/

Quite possibly yes - unless i'm selling privately the lack of satnav won't make a jott of difference to the guaranteed value. It only impacts on the original purchase price, massively.

Lol. The leather is quite subtle in real life... the iPhone camera doesn't handle reds very well as it either makes it pink or like a slaughterhouse butcher-block.

Surely come resale time, this hike would be minimal though, due to an increased residual price, and so over the 3 years the extra functionality would feel like a justified price?

Nav certainly does make more than 'not a jot' of difference! If a private seller would give you less, as you've identified, then you can be damn sure the motor trade would as well, outside of the 'buy back' thing you got suckered in on :p

Wait, WHAT.

No Xenons? Are you nuts? If I was buying privately I would write off cars without Xenons instantly these days. Seeing as it's so easy to find good examples with them I am not sure why I would ever consider one without them.

These lights are great... you forget that the Lotus had candles in a mirror housing!

Was looking at getting 'Angel Eyes' as upgrades sometime down the line (before winter).

The only way to add angel eyes to a 1 series is to put the Xenon lights in, which will cost way more than if you'd specced them from the factory.

No great shakes at having to fork out for Xenons if I need them, a bit of outlay never hurt anyone ;)

I believe the Z4 23iM had them as standard and did get to use them - the distance of illumination was pretty disgusting; standard beam felt like full-beam.

Erm you are looking at 4 figures to retrofit Xenons

Just heard the same. Pretty disgusting when they are speccable for ~£600 factory fit.

If I decide I want them, i'll work something out ;)

and how much would it be to replace the current headlights, with brand new current headlights? Im guessing that this probably accounts for the price difference between retrofit and new option price.

£2010 for Professional Multimedia Nav...!

I come from a Lotus, so electric windows have me left in awe, let alone a solid roof over my head too ;)

It's really not - it transforms the entire user interface of the car. It is so much more than just nav.

Also includes an audio system upgrade to loudspeaker does it not? or is that extra? 6 disc changer too or is that another option? Costs about £2k to retrofit Nav IIRC.

Gives you an iDistract :p PDC screen when reversing. Not to mention makes changing features like daytime running lights, locking configs and other options a possibility and is generally a much nicer interface with the car than the display between the dials.

If I ever find myself in a situation to be buying from new Sat Nav would be top of my list followed by full leather as they're nice luxuries and will also help resale value. Though I don't think I'll ever buy a car from new due to the depreciation (unless I win the lottery).

Regardless it still looks very tidy and no doubt good fun to drive :)
