Steam 33% OFF...DCS: A-10C Warthog & Black Shark

It's not really a pick up and play game. You need to invest a fair amount of time into it to get anything out.

Would I need to be a hard core flight sim type to enjoy this - or is there enough pick up and play value for the average gamer?

I'm also interested in this but worried it'll be hard to pick up and play..
Looking at buying both of them myself as i don't own or played any of them.....

But i don't have hours of spare time i can put into gaming these days..:(

Damn, only went and bought this the other week! But I'd say its definitely worth the full price anyway.

As others have said it's not a pick up and play game. To get the proper experience and enjoyment imo, you need a joystick with separate throttles and lots of buttons. Oh and lots of time too!

I still have a very old microsoft forced feedback 2 joystick

Will this joystick be ok for using with these games ?

Any joystick is fine, even a cheapy one is miles better than attempting keyboard/mouse alone as the (flight) controls in game are in need of a delicate analog touch.

There's a lot of ground to cover in both titles, but equally lots of help in the form of tutorials, videos, forums, etc. I'd say Blackshark would be the tougher beast to get to grips with, as its tutorials aren't as advanced as for A10c as well as helis just being a bit weirder to handle outside of arcade gaming, but there's still a wealth of material (and even community-made tutorial missions) to help out that if someone wants a crack at this genre they could do so.

If the force feedback works in Blackshark (it supports it, but I don't know the scope of the devices it works with), even better, since the cyclic/trim control is more representative of how it works and is implemented for real, than the alternative mechanisms non-FF users have to learn to grasp.

Cliffs of Dover can be had for under £20 currently too, just remember you'll have to deal with a few bugs :)

Yeh, I didn't mention steam for a reason.

Get Games and Just flight both have the offer, are they ok to mention now or am I about to get a holiday?

BTW the current version for DCS:- Warthog is 1.1.0.9 but it is still 1.1.0.8 on steam. This should be updated soon, but in the mean time you can download the 1.1.0.9 installer from the DCS website and use your steam key with it, if you wish.

Also, Black shark is getting a big upgrade, for free, in the next month or so, to Warthogs Graphics and Sim engine.
