Earthquake jolts north-east Japan

The issue is, Japan is continuously going to have earthquakes, big and small. They have a good infrastructure to withstand a moderate earthquake, just not a good infrastructure to cope with tsunamis :( Usually if the epicentre is near the coast, it won't cause mass destruction; no tsunamis!

just because theres no tsunami warning that doesn't mean its not serious :/

Thing is, 6.4 will probably flatten a city like London or Paris, but 6.4 in Japan is like a sneeze. The last big one was over 9.0 wasn't it? and all the sky scrappers stay standing!

It was the tsunami that did the most damage.

Yeah earthquakes are honestly nothing for Japan, all the buildings can withstand them without much of an issue, it was the Tsunami that was the main problem.
