*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

I've come to the conclusion that i can't carry on in life without a Star Wars MMO, yet i'm not going to purchase this without seeing the subscription prices and how the game develops a month or two after release.

If it doesn't live up to my expectations, i'll have to put my head in my pillow and cry...

I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but here goes...

If I pre order the game online how does it work? From what I understand, you get a code/download the game via their website and get your box at a later date? Or did I just make that up...

Thanks!

For this game, yeah pretty much. You'll get a headstart code either now or very soon if you pre-order from a place that is offering that, then when headstart is near you'll be able to download the client. Then, unless it's an Origin version you'll get the box in the post and pop in the retail key. If it's digital you'll get your key over Origin.

''At one point, you'll be facing the entourage of one of the uber-Force wielders [Bioware are keen to avoid saying who this is]. Everyone in the group has to pick one to fight. You have this Luke/Vader type moment where it's a one-on-one boss fight but everyone is in audience.''

That sounds amazing, really hope they can pull it off!

Well the CE box picture shows 4 DVD's.. figure about 4.5Gb's each disk, and allow for compression, I'd say about 20Gb's

I'm sure its already been confirmed that the game will be over 40 gigs...just because you saw 4 discs on a picture, that doesnt really tell you anything about size because discs these days can hold up to 100gig such as bluerays...as for standard dvd discs you've got dvd9 which are around 9.7gb.

It makes sense that the game should be so big as this is meant to be the biggest mmo game ever created in terms how distances you can travel in-game on all the different worlds, so the bulk of the files will be all textures and sounds which take up most of the room, especially the sounds, and this game is all voiced over so has more sounds then any other mmo.

I think you'll find that less than 10% of gamers have a Blu-ray drive, so you can assume those discs are DVD's. 2ndly a lot of publishers don't use dual-layer discs just in case the user only has a single layer drive.. just like it's the reason that UK magazines use dual sided disks rather than dual layered.

Oh fair do's, I presumed everyone would have both these days...still confident the game is over 40gigs tho.
