Over the past while a few threads have popped up on here with the most ridiculous questions relating to basic practical situations (yeah, I know its GD so what do I expect).

Just wondering if people would answer some simple questions about yourself:

1. Age?
2. Live at home with parents or not?

And lastly, can you or do you know how to:

3. Wire a standard 3 pin plug
4. Change a wheel on a car if you get a puncture
5. Work the washing machine properly
6. Iron shirts
7. Boil an egg

Simple "yes" or "no" answers are fine.

Just gauging how doomed this country is :p

Feel free to add any other examples like this....

1. Age? 28
2. Live at home with parents or not? my mum and sister

And lastly, can you or do you know how to:

3. Wire a standard 3 pin plug : Yes
4. Change a wheel on a car if you get a puncture : Yes
5. Work the washing machine properly : yes, and the tumble dryer
6. Iron shirts: yes but it's tedious as hell
7. Boil an egg : yes and a whole lot more besides lol

just to add, can also decorate, lay carpet, wallpaper, paint, DIY, only thing i dont touch is major electricals, ( household wiring ) and major Plumbing everything else is easy

Well, so far so good.... I doubt I am the only person on this board thinking the same as I do.

1. Age? 16
2. Live at home with parents or not? Yes
3. Wire a standard 3 pin plug - Yes
4. Change a wheel on a car if you get a puncture - No (could probably load a youtube video if I needed to)
5. Work the washing machine properly - Yes
6. Iron shirts - Yes (been doing this for the past 5 years!)
7. Boil an egg - Yes (that shouldn't even count as 'cooking')

Only learnt that I can change a wheel when it happened to me on the way to work! I'd say I knew how to do those things before I started doing them myself to be fair, not rocket science. Bearing in mind I still live with my parents at 24 although that's more to do with my current circumstances rather than personal choice.

1. Age? 31
2. Live at home with parents or not? no

And lastly, can you or do you know how to:

3. Wire a standard 3 pin plug - haven't done this since i was 14 but probably
4. Change a wheel on a car if you get a puncture - if i can get the wheels nuts off and it's not a risky area, say on the hard shoulder
5. Work the washing machine properly - yes
6. Iron shirts - probably not a high standard but yes
7. Boil an egg - yes though i prefer poached

i cannot sew nor cook a roast though with a few attempts i could probably do a good roast

Lol, married and I can do all those things and more.

27, live with friends and yes to all and more.

Anyone on here should be able to do all of the above... if they can't, they need to seriously sit down and assess where their lives are going.

7. Boil an egg - Yes (that shouldn't even count as 'cooking')

I purposely kept it to simple things to gauge it easier... I quite agree about the "and lots more" stuff... Feel free to add things to my list in the same general idea...

I have the "living with parents" in there to see if someone can't do it because their parents do i.e. you SHOULD find that people that live themselves should know how to do more

1. Age 20
2. Live at home with parents or not? 20

And lastly, can you or do you know how to:

3. Wire a standard 3 pin plug Yes.
4. Change a wheel on a car if you get a puncture Never driven a car before so had no need. could probably find out if I needed and would be useful to know.
5. Work the washing machine properly Yep.
6. Iron shirts Yes, but not half as well as Mum :p
7. Boil an egg Yep.

You may not have had to do it but going by your response, you would know how to do it if required.

I would get around it hopefully.
jack up car (first panic of mine would be am I using the jack points or causing damage to the car)
Unscrew the bolts, pop off tyre, put on spare (worry if it's on the right way, no doubt say "ah screw it") tighten bolts, drive off to local fitter.

Strength provided if I could manage :P

What kind of man can't cook a roast. *Sigh*.

I'm 22, live alone and can do all of the above. Only issue would be if the wheel nuts have ceased.

I can't boil an egg. This is because I've never tried as I dislike eggs. I'm dissapointed to learn that this means I need to seriously sit down.
