AMD 7000 Series to be released in August along with Deus Ex: Human Revolution?

Harsh but true :(

Yeah fair enough, but I'd call it a fiasco using a naming convention thats usually used - outside of GPUs as well as for GPUs - to indicate a major revision, for what was a minor change in any aspect relevant to consumers... I was critical when nVidia did it, I'll be critical when AMD do it to.

You should know my take on the nVidia rebranding by now :S

So would you describe it as a fiasco, yes or no?

AFAIK the delay in 280 to 285 was due to waiting on the 65nm to 55nm shrink and nothing to do with how slow or fast nVidia progress.

Well considering AMD launched a new generation on 55nm, I think the process itself was more than ready, no?

What facts? theres no credible public information for either AMD or nVidia releases atm.

What did I put at the end of the title of this thread?

Goes without saying.

True I'd forgotten 4000 series was on 55nm.

It was a tongue in cheek poke at: "add to the fact it will be likely be around 9 months before Nvidia release their new GPU's"

Well around 6 months before the process is ready (which is what TSMC expects), and another 3 months for re-spins etc. I'd say that was a fair estimate.

As I said, anyone whos spent much time around these forums should know what my views were on the nVidia G92 fiasco - ejizz definitely does - so the question is moot.

Yes I know you 'don't agree' with it, but you seem to try to play it down, but when AMD release a different core with admittedly a mis-leading name it's all of a sudden a sensational Fiasco.

Just wish you were more even handed...

Yes or no :p
I haven't been around that long. Only started posting around October

Seems like this ATM :(

I've never tried to play it down, was only obtuse because of your agenda in asking the question - infact I don't think anyones ever tried to play down whant nVidia did with the G92 fiasco, even the hardcore fanboys... meanwhile can't say the same for the 6870 :D nope not played down at all...

Perhaps not, but you can be 99% sure that AMD will release first. I'll be very surprised if Nvidia have a new high end card out this year.

Seems likely, I'd be suprised to - tho nVidia seem to be under the impression they will make a November release - which seems unlikely given TSMC appear to be unable to produce the goods this side of Christmas (maybe will be another "paper" release to try and spoil AMD's launch).

Cast your mind back to the November Fermi release, expect an announcement of an announcement sometime around the 23rd of August.

well after looking at the video i expect the game to be released on August 23rd in the US as stated, and then at some point after that the game will be given away with a new AMD card. it in no way says that the AMD giveaway will happen at the same time of the US release.
I seriously doubt that the first cards on the new process will be the high end cards anyway.

I think this sums it up - no way they 'give' this popular game away with a new GPU.

They will wait a some months and then do it.

and read this

doesnt sound too positive about getting a card soon ... let alone august? (no freaking way)
my guess is november maybe

amd releasing low end usually first before high end , as i remember first they went with 40nm with 4770 ? was just die shrink with old core in it they were testing for leaks or something.

so i would not be surprised if we see 7770 or something at that sort

Apparently 28nm isn't so problematic, with everyone except Nvidia reporting positive things, did AMD use a 55nm pipe cleaner?

The pipe cleaner was the 3xxx series, the 3870 was just a 2900XT with a 256-bit memory bus instead of a 512-bit one and added power management on 55nm, but fundamentally the same core. (even down to AA having to be emulated on the shaders due to dodgy ROPS or something)
