Question : Seat Altea

My partners car ( Seal Atea 2005 1.9 tdi )has something half hanging off of the underneath of the car. Its near the Driver side door underneath the car. The only thing i can describe it as is a 10inch long silver looking rectangle which looks a bit like a heat sink.

It seems to fix via two bolts but one is broken so its dangling off. Any idea what this is exactly?

It will be the diesel cooler on the return line to the fuel tank, fairly common for them to take a knock and get damaged.

Not sure. I think the mountings on that looks too too long, there isn't really extended metal mountings on it.

Is it a big expensive job to repair? and with it hanging off will it cause a bigger problem? i have noticed it gets warm

As long as it is not leaking diesel and you can secure it back up by some means it should be OK. It costs around £150 to get it replaced at a dealer .

its getting warm and doesn't appear to be leaking anything so hopefully just a matter of mounting it back up somehow. Thanks for the quick replies, trusty OCUK
