Pre-season Football 2011/2012 Season

Can't even win their own trophy.

Didn't ever think that New York would. Fair play to them.

Johnson! Well in. 3-0 (which should have been 4 with a perfectly good goal disallowed). Great work from SWP, someone definitely wants to stick around. Marvellous stuff.

Edit: Full time, 3-0. Balo, Dzeko (technically scored 2 - had a fantastic game throughout) and Johnson. Obviously hard to properly read into pre-season friendlies but going on that performance (without Tevez or Aguero) you probably won't find too many unhappy City fans right now. Sufficed to say I don't think anyone fancies being drawn against us from pot 3 in the Champions League.

Finished 3rd in the Emirates Cup, sounds about right for us these days. Lots of talk about working on defence... well if they have been they must still be keeping it secret because they all look just as much of a liability.

Been a fair few boos over the last two days... seems expectations this year are at their lowest ebb, which would make any sort of silver-lined victory that much sweeter.... but that's not going to happen is it.

Technically scored one, the ref's decision's final! I think he may have been marginally offside, anyway. The camera wasn't level, so he looked level-ish on the footage, but I reckon he'd've looked offside if one was looking straight down the line. His actual goal was nice, though, ha.

One counted, he legitimately put the ball in the back of the net twice, is what I meant to say :p

Its a joke, the clearances were a shambles, after the first header about 7 Arsenal players all spread out away from the ball, no one wanted to win it, no one wanted to be the guy to go and dominate the area, and Chamakhs clearance was awful.

In general Arsenal just look rubbish without, in this preseason, Wilshire, in general Cesc in that midfield role. I've been saying for 4 years, Cesc(and now Wilshires) ridiculous quality has been massively covering for a lack of quality in the rest of the squad.

Its that same thing, what costs us games is, leading, 10-15mins into a second half we just stop playing, we stop passing forwards, we stop pressing in their half, we're happy to pass backwards and happy to not attack properly. Thing is, attack is the best form of defence, as they get less worried about conceding they commit more and more players forward and stay higher up the pitch and that gets us in all kinds of trouble.

Even our goal came from relatively little and required truly awful defending from a set piece, yesterday we had 2 shots on target. Gervinho, love the effort but the final ball and shooting was lacking quite badly today. Rosicky, sure not bad for the goal but other than that, really does so little now.

Also for me, this 2 games 2 days format is begging for trouble with injuries, if we have to do them so close we should have completely different sides. The Audi cup had a nice gap between games, hopefully Wilshires injury isn't at all bad, because we're boned without him.

It was a good game, City played well. Every time i watch Adam Johnson i wonder why he doesnt play every week. Quality player IMO.

Wenger: “We [will] try to strengthen the squad but I have no names to offer today”

Wenger: “I am very happy with the two days. We were tested and for both days we played well for an hour.”

LULWAT? How is that a positive thing, if games lasted 60mins we'd probably be swimming in silverware! Our main problem is keeping our heads in the last 30 minutes!

Lol Arsenal.

Real shame as they're only a few players away from being a really really top draw side imho.

Thats the thing about Arsenal that must kill their fans. Its not the disappointment - its the hope! They really arent THAT far away from being a top side but a miss is as good as a mile really. Unless they sort out the obvious 2 or 3 players then they may as well stop torturing themselves by flirting with success in the CL and PL!!

Pray tell, what happened?

:p

They lost 14-0 to Alfreton Town. A conference North side! Buckley Town managed to lose to Droylsden only 2-0 the other week, and by that logic it means Buckley Town should be a League One side. :D

Really. Don't get me started.

I'll go on a mega DM rant.

It was the under 18's that lost by 14, not that it's an excuse, no first team players were involved.
